Well, you CAN do it yourself. No matter you accidentally deleted files or formatted the digital device and lost data, Do not panic as you definitely have chance to get them back as long as you take the right option.

First things first - Stop using the device immediately! Then connect the device where your lost media files located to a PC which has installed Photo Recovery, a program which is able to recover pictures, videos and music files. Get the program here,
If you are running Windows, then try Photo Recovery.
For Macintosh users, try Photo Recovery for Mac.

But you should remember - the more you use your device before data recovery, the less likely you may be able to recover the media files back! So STOP using the device ASAP.

OK! Be relaxed! Nowadays, the deleted files on a camera memory card are not actually destroyed immediately as we think. They are still there and become invisible. So, act carefully to get these deleted photos back:
1. Stop using this camera right now in case that any new file on it may overwrite your deleted files.
2. Insert this camera to your computer.
3. Download a camera memory card data recovery freeware to retrieve all your lost videos back.
This professional camera recovery freeware has helped many people around me restore their inaccessible data off from a phone/camera memory card or hard drive. It could be a good choice for you to go on.
Try to read more detailed information of this camera data recovery freeware here:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/03/memory-card-recovery.html

4. Do not save or back up all the restored data on the same camera in case of any data loss.

Hi Keely.

First thing you have to do is to make sure that maybe they still are on the memory card. So check that first. If you know they're not there anymore it means you completely moved them to your computer.

Second go into windows and press Start button. And then in the search box type ".jpg". This will bring a list of all the files in your computer with the .jpg file type. Possibly your wedding photos. If they don't show up it could only mean you deleted them instead of downloading them to your computer.

So what to do:

This is a free program that can possibly recover deleted photos. Warning!! Don't make any more photos on your memory card because you will lower the chances of getting the old ones back.

I accidently deleted my wedding pictures from my pny memory card/Nikon 5100 camera, can I restore them

I've used Recuva (free download). Do a thorough deep scan and save to another drive. Very simple to use as long as you have not reused same physical space on card.

I accidentally erased my daughters's wedding!!! can it be retrieved?

Possibly. Important: Take no more video with the Flip until you've recovered the videos! This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" wedding videos. There are many good freeware photo/video recovery software options that may help you recover your videos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Try for the ones that are listed in the article as being capable of recovering videos. If these don't work for you (but really they should if you just simply erased the videos), you might want to try some of the payware versions (with free preview features), or consider professional video recovery services.

I have a fujifilm fine pix720ld camera, my cousins wedding was on over the weekend and have taken many photos. when i went to look at photos the next morning it said card not initialised. i now do not know...

It's no problem at all to get them back. Do not take any more pictures, and remove the card from the camera to lessen the chance of you overwriting some important pictures or videos. There are VERY many freeware software options available to help you recover your files. Please see this post that reviews several of the better freeware recovery options that you can download. You'll need to use a card reader with these programs though:

All the download links listed in the article are available through CNET. This was to primarily ensure through CNET's verification process that these would be malware free software, and to also give you a chance to read user reviews on the software before downloading.

I took some very important photos at my best friends wedding on the weekend and i just tried to put them on the computer and the camera screen said "card not initialized" the pohotos were there...

Very bad situation indeed, hold on there maybe some chance.

take out the card and put it in external card reader. Can your computer read it?

If no, then get hold of some file recovery software like 'GetDataBack for FAT32' (buy/borrow/steal :) ) install it on your computer, GetDataBack should be able to pull back the data.

Let me know if any more clarifications needed.

Want to recover deleted photo files on my computer

Have you saved anything new on this computer drive since then?
After deleting something off from a computer drive, the deleted files are not erased completely. But, they could be also overwritten by any new file on the same drive and gone forever. Therefore, I hope you've not overwritten them all yet!
As to data recovery software, in fact, there are many data recovery freeware online that could work much more efficiently than some paid ones. Why not to have a try?
Try to restore these deleted photos back from your computer with the help of a data recovery freeware:

In the future, I hope you could back up everything important all the time.

How to set up 50 mm lenst for wedding photos .. and flash

Sorry this is too late, perhaps it will be useful to others. I hope you used a different lens for the wedding!

You can't use the 50mm 1.8 lens on the D40x unless you focus manually. This is because the D40x only supports autofocus with AF-S and AF-I lenses. The focus motor and drive mechanism for other AF lenses was omitted to make the camera smaller, lighter and cheaper.

First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems.

If you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html.

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
