SOURCE: I have the Ortho Dial

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you had with the Ortho Dial N Spray. This hose end sprayer empties about 2.1 gallons per minute, so you will need to walk fairly quickly to cover area you're wishing to apply product to. Please give Ortho a call at 877-465-5160, and we will be happy to assist you further.

What does 3900 square feet equal in linear feet

if you are talking about a home it is huge. But sq. footage is calculated by multiplying width by depth{ or height}. a room 100' x 39' would be 3900 sq./ft. a 10'x10' is 100 sq./ft.

I have a brand new Sherman Timeoff Water Timer Model 500 in a box, but there are no instructions. Can you help?

It appears that you turn the dial to any setting from 1 to 13 depending upon how much water you want the timer to dispense. The numbers show relative amounts from 100 total gallons to 400 total gallons, then the timer shuts off.

I have lost my instructions for my hand held spreader. The numbers on the side that control the outlet of whatever is in the spreader--do these indicate the number of pounds per 100 sq. ft?

Below is a list of spreader settings. You may want to call Scotts at 800-543-8873 and verify the product you are using is able to be used in a hand held spreader.
  • For fine grass seed (blue, rye, fescue) use setting 1
  • For coarser seed (tall fescue) use setting 2
  • For light fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a regular rate) use setting 3
  • For heavy fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a heavy setting) use setting 4
  • For pelletized fertilizer and ice melt products use setting 5

Republic EZ broadcast spreader...what number to use when lining up the mark to calibrate the spreader...lost the instruction book

Hello, to solve your question about what number to use to calibrate your broadcast spreader, please use the step-by-step instructions below:

1. If you don't already know the square footage of your lawn, please walk off or measure, multiplying the length by width. For example, my lawn is 100 ft wide by 100 ft long; this equals 10,000 sq. ft.
2. Use this figure (30,000 sq ft) to determine how much fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, apply etc., to purchase and apply.
3. To calibrate the spreader for applying your product at the correct rate, first weigh and hold out an amount of product to cover a pre-determined test area; for example, enough for a 200 sq ft space.
4. Because most lawn fertilizers are packaged to cover areas in 1000 sq ft increments, it's easy to figure how many 1,000 sq ft applications you need for your lawn.
5. Set your spreader to 3 and measure 1/5 of the recommended application on your product, to cover a 200 sq ft area.
6. Use your spreader to cover this 200 sq ft area.
7. If there is product remaining in the hopper after walking this 200 sq ft area, increase the setting number and move to another test area, repeat steps 5 and 6.
8. If there wasn't enough product to cover the test area, back the number down, move to another test area, and repeat steps 5 and 6, until you finish with product and lawn test area at the same time.
9. Remember to never leave product in your hopper because many chemicals are corrosive and can destroy the moving parts, making the spreader inoperable.

I hope this helps!

I have a Toro Monitor II (pin type, model #:172-06-11) yard sprinkler system. My wife and I bought this house about a year ago (foreclosure) and I am just now getting some time to look at the sprinkler...

Michael,

Two possibilities, one, the heads have valves in the bottom of them, and they are controlled my the water pressure in the tubing. You should have one valve, or possibly your meter, that turns the system on, but thats it for valves. The second possiblity, is hydraulic valves. The tubing from your controller goes to valves in your lawn that are controlled hydraulically. In both cases, as long as the tubing is pressurized, no water flows. Once your controller stops the flow of water to that particular tube, water flows.

Either way, if you have that controller, you don't have electric valves. Hope this helps.

My Hunter PGM sprinkler heads are stuck in the same position. Any way to fix this?

Hunter has released the PGJ sprinkler, a direct replacement of the PGM series. With a rubber cover and the smaller PGP type gear drive, the PGJ series rotor should solve your issue. I would look at www.hunterindustries.com and find a wholesaler near you for costs of replacing your PGM sprinklers.
