This is likelly due to a dirty roller inside the printer. A roller is a cyndrillical component within the print device that pulls the pages through the the print device. If a piece of dirt becomes adhered to this roller then the dirt will rub off on any pages pulled through the print device.

You should consult the manual for your specific printer, this will tell you how to clean the roller. Check this link http://support.euro.dell.com... to find a manual if you lost your hard copy

Outgoing faxes ok. Faxes received have 2 white lines running down the page.

That issue really sounds like the sender may have issues with their machine. If you can copy correctly, and fax out correctly, it is not your unit.

How do you get rid of lines going down the page of an outgoing fax?

There is some debris (paper dust, write-off, etc) blocking the the light source in the original scanning unit, just use a moisten (not wet) cotton towel, clean the area. perform a copy function before and after before you clean it, just to verify that you have solved the problem. A thin line also appears on the photocopy.why and what is the solution?

The page goes thro the feeder mechanism and passes over a thin strip of glass; maybe about 1/4 inch wide and runs across the fax under the cover where the paper is fed. You probably have dirt, corrector fluid or something like that on the glass this will cause the problem of a black line down the page to appear at the other end when you send a fax...and also to appear on your pages when you make a copy...open up the machine and clean the glass...cant help any more as you didnt state make or model.

Outgoing fax was received as blank

Hello,

Make sure that you sent the fax face down.
If all your faxes are sent blank, there may be a problem with the scanner. Try making a photo copy placing the page face down, if your copy comes out blank then the scanner is finished.

If your photocopy does not come out blank then the problem is on the other end and not your machine.

Thanks,

Pat

WE HAVE A FAX MACHINE THAT HAS A BLACK LINE GOING DOWN THE PAGE WITH FAX IN AND FAX OUT

For outgoing fax lines, check your scaner rail for any streaks, dirts or similar and clean scaner.
For incoming fax streaks, you can only check your drum unit for lines on surface and replace it, or lines is there because other side has dirt or similar on their scaner.

Hope that helps!

Black Stripe on outgoing faxes

If the stripe is a thin line, the scanner glass is dirty, if it is wide stripe you have a bad scanner block. EXPENSIVE

Blank line down left side of outgoing fax or feeder copy

The most common cause of blank (void) lines on a scanned document is from whiteout on the glass where the page is scanned when using the document feeder.
If there is a clear mylar sheet on the bottom of the document feeder, the whiteout may be there instead.

If there was dirt or a dark smudge on the glass (or mylar), it would show up as a black line, but whiteout is white, and shows up as a void (blank) line.

Black line going down the middle of the page

lift the auto feeder and clean the scanner glass that your pages scan across -it is dirty. You can make a copy afterward and this will tell you if you have solved the problem.
