I have an x642e all in one and the following message has appeared on the screen - 900.00 service R.I.P Software what shall i do? what doe3s it mean?

    Thanks very much. the problem is outside the printer so now i just need to work out how to solve it. thanks for all your help

Hi,

To my knowledge, this error message indicates a possible fault with the "Engine Board" If you are considering a repair, possible source for parts would be http://www.partsnowllc.com/ . You of course could have the service performed by Lexmark.

Incidentally, there are some reports that flashing/re-installing the RIP software would reset the error without the need for board replacement. Perhaps you may want to consider this option. The RIP Software for your model may be found at the ftp.lexmark.com or try here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

The 900 error occurs only when the printer is receiving information from a network or computer, contact your software/network support. If the error occurs when the printer is idle or not connected to the network or PC, there may be a printer hardware or connection problem. Sometimes a bad connection with an Internal Network Adapter/Network Card can cause the problem. The first thing to check is the base printer. To check the base printer:

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect every cable, except for the power cord.
  2. Turn on the printer and see if the error returns.
  3. If the error does not return, try to print a test page from the Test Menu.
    1. Press Menu > to enter Menus.
      Optra S series and Optra K series printers: Continue to press Menu > until you see TESTS MENU.
      Optra T and Lexmark T and W series printers: Continue to press Menu > until you see UTILITIES MENU.
    2. Press Select to view the menu items. TESTS/UTILITIES MENU is now on the first line of the display.
    3. Press the Menu > button until Print Menus appears on the second line.
    4. Press Select.
    5. If the display tells you to change paper, press Select or the GO button to print.
  4. If the test page prints correctly, the printer's hardware is most likely working correctly. The source of the problem is probably outside the base printer.
  5. If the 900 error occurs again before, during, or after the printing of the test page, remove all options (internal network adapters, optional feeders, second drawer options, finisher options, additional memory, etc.) from the printer.
  6. Then turn on the printer and try to print the test page. If it still posts the 900 error, the printer may need to be serviced.
  7. If the error does not return, then the problem may be with one of the options.
IMPORTANT: If you receive an Invalid Engine Code error message when you power the printer back on, there is a problem with the printer. An Invalid Engine Code condition will cause a 900 RIP Software Error message to appear if you try to use the printer. The Invalid Engine Code error means either that your printer has lost its stored operating code for the engine board or that the printer's engine board has gone out.

I WORKING ON A LEXMARK X642E WHICH CAN NOT SEND OR RECIEVE FAXES. WHEN TRY TO GO INTO FAX SETUP MENU IT SAY MODEM FIALED TO INITIALIZE!!


It possible that this is a bad modem, try turning off printer and unplug fax. If you are getting same error message, you need to get a replacement of the modem card.

When I try to scan or print a message comes up telling me to ck power and usb connections. I have unplugged and restarted computer 4 times and still have problem


It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

  • If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.

    2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.

    3. Restart your computer before installing the software again.

    4. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software.

    If the installation screen does not appear:

      1. In Windows XP, click Start®My Computer.

    In Windows 2000, double-click My Computer from your desktop.

      1. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. If necessary, double-click setup.exe.

      2. When the printer software installation screen appears, click Install or Install Now.

      3. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.

    Error message. 924.01 service fuser error what can I do, or does it require a professional repair?


    The 924.01 service fuser error indicates either the fuser unit is not able to reach/maintain the correct temperature or the fuser unit is not working. What you can do:
    • Turn off printer. Turn on after 30 seconds.
    • Plug printer straight to power outlet in the wall. Bypass any surge devices or power strips, they draw away power from the printer.

    If problem continues, contact Lexmark technical support(under warranty) or your local authorized service provider for professional repair.

    Lexmark x642e MPF Reset maintenance counter


    Hi~
    You can reset the maintenance count by going to the Configuration Menu.

    Step 1: Turn off your X64x printer
    Step 2: Hold the 2 and 6 buttons while the printer is off
    Step 3: Turn on the printer but don't release the buttons yet. Keep holding those buttons for about 10 secs
    Step 4: On your Operator Panel, you should see "Configuration Menu"
    Step 5: Scroll down and look for "Reset Maint Count" and select it.
    Step 6: Exit Config Menu and powercycle your printer (turn it off then back on)

    usually it means that a sensor in your fuser is bad. If you have a P.M. Kit replaced the fuser and clean the printer.

    but before you do, make sure that you have cleared all jams, including in the fuser.

    Its probably time for a Preventive Maintanence
