Question about HP DV9815NR Pavilion Laptop

I have an HP dv9815nr laptop and it no longer "sees" the dvd player. I've tried reinstalling the driver, reinstalled it, but the laptop doesn't see it at all. without buying a new one, any way to save this?

There's a possibility that the problem is just the software side and there are two option that you can do for you to be able to fix your problem. This is gonna be a bit complicated since were going to access your registry, but just follow all the steps and it will be much easier

1. Click on START

2. Type REGEDIT on the search bar on START Menu on the Run Box

3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

4. Expand SYSTEM

5. Expand CurrentControlSet

6. Expand Control

7. Expand Class

8. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

9. Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

10. Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

11. Restart PC

12. Try you CD / DVD ROM

If nothing happens, click on this link then click on RUN and follow the steps, then restart computer and try to run a disc again, if still nothing happens, theres a possibility that the problem is with the hardware side or the media player that you are you using...

Dv7-1240us won't play cd's/dvd's


Try reinstalling the software for the dvd player or update the drivers. Also make sure your media player is up to date and you have the latest codec package installed.

Internal speaker no sound


Make sure you have the Volume Turned Up and not on Mute in the Audio Properties. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Audio and Sound.

You can also click the megaphone at the bottom right near the time to check the Volume Control and see if Mute is on.

You can download and reinstall the Audio Drivers.

Sound cannot be heard


Check to make sure you have the volume turned up and not on mute.

Is this a video on the dvd drive or one you are watching from a website? What application program do you use to watch the video? Windows Media Player? Try downloading and reinstalling the application program you use to watch the video.

HP pavilion dv6000 speakers wont work


If you've check the Audio and Sound properties in the Device Manager then maybe the speakers are shot. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio and check the properties and settings. You can also click the Megaphone at the bottom right near the time. Make sure the Volume is turned up and not on Mute.

You can look on ebay and purchase replacement speakers based on a HP DV6000 Speakers search. You'll have to take the laptop apart to install them.

You could try downloading and reinstalling the Audio Drivers.

Make sure the volume is up and not muted. Check the Audio and Sound volume controls in the Control Panel. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound to check the volume and to see if mute is on.
