Hi

This is a common issue that occurs after few years when you use the self clean feature. T he sensor is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. After reading your issue most likely the sensor should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

EXACT same problem here. Ours they tell us the Clock or Main Board is gone. No warranty (2yrs old) and replacement is minimum $400 - $500; possibly $1200 if the whole panel is gone. Zero help from Sears .. Very interested on how your repair went.

F10 code on a Kenmore self-clean range model #970-6061

Your Kenmore oven has a built-in fault detector. When the oven detects an issue, the display screen on the control panel will flash a fault code. The F10 fault code on your Kenmore oven indicates that the thermal protector on your oven's control unit, or microcontroller (MCU), has overheated. If the MCU overheats, the computer stops all motor functions. Several items on your oven could cause the thermal protector to overheat. Therefore, you must troubleshoot the F10 code to determine why it appeared on your display panel. Instructions 1 Inspect the area around and behind the oven to ensure you did not place the oven next to a source of heat, such as a register vent or other appliance that becomes very hot. If this is the case, you must remove the oven from the heat source to prevent the issue from occurring again. 2 Inspect the oven to ensure all vents on the oven are open and unblocked. This includes heat vents that vent to the outside of the home. Remove any clogs from the oven's venting and check to see if the code reappears. 3 Inspect all of the wiring harnesses that connect to the MCU. Remove the back cover from the control panel with a screwdriver. Look for disconnected harnesses or any harnesses with black residue on them. This indicates an issue with the MCU. Remove the bolts that secure the MCU to the control panel housing and then replace the MCU with a new one. Reconnect all of the harnesses and retest.

F1 alarm started last night. Turned off circuit breaker overnight, tried today and still continues to alarm. Repairman wants $76 dollars to walk in the door. Please help

Hi.

The error meaning depends on the oven brand.

On Amana and other brands F1 is a faulty control pad or faulty electronic control.
That may be your case , since the electronic control looks being jammed.

Try tripping the circuit breaker for two minutes (or disconnect power cord). If that does not help, then call the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

Note: on other brands F1 indicates incorrect temperature , and is associated with a faulty temperature sensor. This normally does not cause the electronic control beeping and not responding.

Oven not working

you would have to check the element for continuity. Also the oven sensor could be suspect and should ohm out at 1180 at room temp. if both those are ok then main control is probable. without schematic it would be hard to say for sure..there may even be a safety fuse blown.

Press the self-clean button.  The panel becomes blank(---), then press the up arrow( ^ ).  The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning.  Good luck, ya'll!
