Question about Ovens

Open Question

My Frigidaire wall oven made a sound like an exploding light bulb, you know when a hot light bulb gets water on it and it pops, and stopped working. It was set at 350 and had been on the timer but I was busy and couldn't get to it. The timer went off 2 maybe 3 times and then there was the pop, when I got to the kitchen the oven was dark and off. Any clues as to what went wrong? I thought it may have been a fuse but I see it doesn't have one.

it sounds like something shorted in the clock assy. check the elements to see if they are damaged, sometimes they blow apart and also take out the clock assy.when you change the bulb anywhere you want to make sure the power is off to it,shut off the light switch and when you open the door hold in the door switch or just unplug it or kill the breaker, you can try to get the rest of the bulb out with a pair of needlenose plyers, next time send the model number and i can look up your machine to help you find out how much the part is and part number.

I have the same oven. works perfectly since 1976. I have the owner's guide and the schematic which will direct you to the solution. you will need to pull the oven 1/3 out of the wall in order to access the electric controls and use a VOM to check voltages.

Let me know what you need.
