It sounds like the wire that charges the drum has broken or has a bad connection. If the drum does not get charged it will not attract toner and therefore blank copies. As i do not know the make an model of your machine I cannot give you further information.

Hope this helps.

When we run copies the first 2 to 4 copies are good then we lose copy quality. Down to a blank page. Techs have been out and replaced the developer, however, it did not fix the problem. They said...

tell the tech to check the charge unit; if the corotron wire is black it must be replaced; if not he will have to test your machine with a new board.

Copies from my xerox cx865 have dark areas-it is a series of three "bars, running the short length of the paper, though they are darker on one side. this happens even if i just try making a copy of a blank...

ok well for starters you would normally want to post this under our printers/copiers section in order to have the proper people look at it but your in luck i think i know exactly what your problem is and a simple cleaning of the printer and ink cartridges should fix it this is a link to a very standard copier cleaning procedure which normally will fix any issues with uneven printing

hope this helps

Xerox XD 100

I would first try opening the right side cover and inspecting the corotron. There is a small opening where there is a very small wire. Check for a small piece of paper in there. It would block the transfer corotron voltage and cause that line.
Then remove the toner and drum. Look at the toner cartridge and see if you can determine if its out of ink in that area. Then look inthe machine with the drum and toner out. Locate the laser and see if it the glass **** is dirty in that ares or blocked.
By the way. if there is no paper in the transfer wire, take some alcohol and clean it with a q tip to remove contamination.

Blank copies? All sorts of things can cause that, for instance...
Drive to drum broken but paper is being pushed through, same with developer system.Does the machine have "corotron wires" (the wire that charges the drum, then transfers the toner image to the paper?) Check these wires are intact. Is high voltage being applied to these wires? Is there a paper clip stuck in the transfer corotron- it HAS happened-it shorts out the HV so there's no transfer current...
even a piece of paper can find its way between the drum and corotron and the copy paper can slide through and not be printed on! Not sure what you mean by"no any toner or drum it has"?
Does the exposure lamp come on...usually has a fault code if this fails, so unlikely
So...the problem is almost certainly related to drum /toner /development/high voltage areas

No Copies

It could possibly be your main charge assembly. If there is no charge on your drum, it can lead to blank copies.

Workcenter xd103f copy comes out blank

Which cartridge did you change? If its the toner cartridge, make sure none of the packaging materal is left on it, same with the drum cartridge. First and simply remove and reseat the cartridges.
What I suspect with the blank copies is a broken transfer corotron wire.
Open the right side door. On the bottom you will see some whit plastic rollers. Above that you will see an opening about 1/2 inch wide. There is a very thin wire in that channel. That wire has probably broken causing your blank copies, I highly suspect that is broken.. That wire when it is dirty also causes really poor copy quality.
Also clean all the mirrors and glass well. That will cause poor copy quaility issues.

You could have one of several problems. Seeing as how you just replaced the toner, it could be a defective toner. Did you have the trouble prior to cartridge replacement? Did you replace it with OEM or after-market/refurbed stuff? You could also have a broken corotron wire. On the right side door is an assembly that has a very fine tungsten wire strung across it. This wire places a charge on the paper to "pull" the image off the drum. if it's broken, you will get blank (or almost blank) images). A 3rd possibility I have seen is that your scanner lock is on. Usually this will cause L1 codes, but I have seen cases where it didn't, and your scanner never moves from "home" position to scan your originals, again, resulting in no image being processed, and therefore blank copies. The scanner lock is under the scanner assembly (above the area where your copies come out) on the left side of the machine. It is a dial mechanism that can be turned to either the locked or unlocked position. It's hard to see, and you almost have to stand on your head to get a good view of it. It is not uncommon that in the process of removing copies from the "catch tray" area to accidentally brush it with one's hand, or watch, or ring, and spin it to the locked position. Certainly a bad drum can effect copy quality as well, but before spending the money, I'd check/re-check the other 3 first.
