Since I do not know which model you have here are some general suggestions:

Depending on which model you have, some of them you can remove the battery and therefore reset it.

It could be that you need to let it charge, like 24 hours before using it again.

This means that the battery is dead or not charging. Perhaps something is wrong with the cord or battery charger, check and see if it is plugged in.

If that still does not help, then replace the battery. If the battery is not user replacable then you will have to take it to a service center.
Thank you for using FixYa

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Phone will do nothing as I have a frown face on it.

It sounds like an update did not install correctly. I'd suggest performing a Soft Reset on your device by pressing and holding the Power button and the Volume Down button for approximately 10 seconds, until the phone vibrates. Once it vibrates, release both buttons.

Ipod classic won't turn on, battery with lighting bolt when plugged in.

You probably need to reset your IPOD. Here are the directions:
1. Unplug the IPOD from the power source.
2. Slide the hold switch or button to HOLD and back again.
3. Then press the MENU and CENTER buttons at same time until the Apple logo appears.
You should be back up and running. If not, try again and remember to make sure you press MENU and CENTER buttons at the SAME time and continue to hold them down as long as it takes for Apple logo to reappear. I once had to hold them for more than a minute before an IPOD touch would reset.

When i plug ipod into computer to charge, nothing happens

I don't claim to be an expert of any sort, but I have owned one of these for a few years and the controls are fairly familiar. My advice is to first hard reboot the iPod by simultaneously holding down the menu and center buttons. This merely restarts the iPod, you will still have your music. If it still doesn't want to charge, try to access the. Diagnostics mode. First you must reboot (using the above method) and as soon as the screen goes black begin to simultaneously hold down the previous Track and the middle buttons. There should show a dos-like diagnostics menu. Navigate with the next and previous track buttons. Select with the middle button, go back with the menu button. You will se a menu with power, audio, LCD, etc. Select power and run some tests. If one gives you an error, hen you have found your problem. If you can't do any of these, then it is possible your battery is just plain shot. They don't last forever, sadly, you can either go to a licensed apple service shop near you, ( aka, apple store) or you can contact apple support. Hope this helps!!

Why wont my ipod touch turn on i turned it off and it wont come o

Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds to ensure the device is off. Let go.

Hold the home button down, plug in the ipod to the computer, after the screen changes to the itunes plug screen, let go of the home button.

The ipod will now be in recovery mode, and you can attempt to perform a restore within itunes.

If the restore fails, and the ipod screen stays black, this means the battery is dead and must be replaced.

I turn on my mac and only this small folder icon appears in the middle of the screen

The face is probably frowning.  The computer cannot find the operating system.  Use a utility disk to boot up the computer and then use First Aid or Disk Utility to check the disk.  You may have to re-install the operating system.  This can be done without losing your files if done correctly.  Seek help from an Apple repair facility if you are in doubt about how to do it.

Ipod shows sad face

Aye, my friend had this exact problem before i came along :-)

First: Reset your iPod by quickly moving the lock to lock position then back to unlock position, then hold the menu and center button down till the apple logo comes up. Then you can release the menu and center buttons.

Second: Plug your iPod into a power supply, such as the apple AC adapter. Wait till it shows that its charging. Once it shows that, unplug it, reset your iPod once more, then plug back in.

Third: Keep your iPod plugged in after the second reset for about 15-20 minutes. Come back, unplug it, and use it and see if it continues. If still continuing, plug it back in till its fully charged, or the equivalent.

After that, If that doesnt fix it, try contacting Apple Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/.

Hope I helped!

Ipod will not turn on at all.

Best bet is to get it into a repair shop. We can certainly take a look. It sounds like it could be hard drive issue or, best case, one of the ribbon cables came unseated and simply need to be reseated. I am concerned due to the fact that it shows that icon AFTER charging it. Was it hooked to an ac charger or computer?
