Question about Nikon D80 Digital Camera with 18-135mm Lens
Hi Jeff - The manual describes "Err" as a general error, a "Camera malfunction"
and says "If error persists, consult with Nikon-authorized service

Some folks have had mixed results with removing / mounting the lens once or twice, charging the battery and cleaning the contacts of both the lens and camera body's lens opening. More odten than not though - the camera has to go back to Nikon for repair. it appears that the shutter is replaced and things go back to working just fine again.
I would contact Nikon directly to learn if there are things they would like you to attempt before arranging for service of your D80.
