Question about Acomdata PHD060U2E-54 60 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive

1 Answer

ACOMDATA 250 I have a 250 that was working fine on a Windows machine.  I moved it to my MacBook to copy some files for the friend with Windows and I loaded the HD Security password program fine.  When I double click it to enter the password to mount on my MacBook OS V 10.5 it says "no device found" and never prompts for a password. The "CD" partition shows up immediately when I plug into the USB port on the MAC

Hi, my macbook stopped reading my HD and I was wondering how I can get my files off the HD and back them up on my computer

First determine if problem is with your macbook or the drive. Does the drive work on any other computers? If not, then the problem is either the drive or the Acomdata enclosure holding the drive. You'll need to get a usb HDD dock, extract the harddrive from your Acomdata drive and plug the drive into the HDD dock. If your mac is still unable to read the drive, the drive itself is probably not working anymore. If you're a novice and have never attempted data recovery before, I would recommend a data recovery service if it is important that you recover your files. If the the problem is with the drive, there may still be a good chance your files can be recovered but only if you know what you're doing. You don't want to run the risk of ruining that chance and attempt this yourself if you don't have the proper tools or knowledge.

My acomdata 250 GB freezes and does not allow files to be copied and or moved back to desktop computer or to new files within the 250 external drive

there are three main reasons for a hard drive to freeze
up 1. you have reached the capacity of the drive or 2. the drive heads are worn to the point where the drive can not boot up to the PC , meaning the heads need
to be replaced 3. the interface between the unit and
the PC 2.0 high speed will not work into a 1.0 USB

then you have several minor things that can happen
like the degeneration of the cables that are being used , a quick remedy is to go to my computer
right click on the drive compress the drive to save space then do a clean on that drive and also sometimes the HDD needs to be reformatted .

Format your hardrive for Mac OS:
Go to Disk Utilities under the go menu in your finder. Select the external drive and click on the erase tab. Clikc erase again and it formats the drive. You can now copy files onto the drive.

Cannot delete files from Acomdata 160 hd

what is the error message you are getting? what OS are you using?

What type of files are you trying to delete?

I will assume the most popular answers.
If you are running windows and trying to delete files and getting the error that the file is a system file or in use and cannot be deleted, then you need to get a utility called move on boot...it will move or delete files when you are rebooting your computer, before they are in use.
You can find move on Boot by google search and many other free utilities that do the same thing.
I would make sure these files aren't needed as yo could kill windows easily.

Virus and spyware removal often requires this sort of removal.

Hope that helps,
