Question about Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-18 Tablet PC

1 Answer

We have a tough book cf18 and the touch screen has gone haywire! the arrow on the screen moves but not in sync with the touch screen or the track pad. it seems to have a life of it's own, or is detached from each other making it almost impossible to drive. You can move the arrow using the touch pad but it is not moving correctly and is very jumpy and is always a distance away from where you are touching.

tried both your suggestions but it still isnt functioning correctly. it is as though the screen on the actual computer is larger than the touchscreen input area. we find it almost impossible to select any option that is less than an inch and a half from the edge of the screen. if you drag the tapper across the screen the mouse pointer follows but is always an inch and half behind which means that you cannot select anything near the edge of the screen, which is where most of the control buttons are!! when you run out of screen to drag across the mouse pointer jumps and returns to the middle of the screen forcing you to start again. the touch pad has the same effect. I have tried recalibrating the touch screen but cannot complete that task because i cannot tap on the red crosses near the edge because it doesnt think i am any where near here. The problem has been getting progressivley worse over time - yet sometimes still chooses to work ok. what should i try next????

the usb mouse worked perfectly for about half a minute than refused to respond - it moved randomly across the screen whenever it was moved.

thankyou for your help. I have ordered a refurbished CF18 to replace this one. If I remove the hard drive from my current machine and put it into the newly refurbished machine - will this fix my problems? the programme that we need is installed on our machine by a company in perth and we are not able to intall it ourselves without sending the machine away - which we dont have time to do - so we are hoping that by exchanging the hard drive into the new machine we should be able to get going again? also - is there any other place i can find the model number of the cf18 - i can no longer read the number on the sticker on the back of the machine?

Sounds as if the diver has corrupted, right click my computer icon>properties>hardware tab>device manager> and look down list for touchpad, click the + sign to reveal your touchpad(normally Synaptics), right click and uninstal or delete.

Restart notebook and the driver will reinstall and normal use should resume

if not proceed next

If u are having Synaptics Driver....then
check that Tapping is enabled...

follow steps to know that:
Open Control Panel..
Now Open Mouse
Now click on tab "Device Settings"
then Click on "Settings"
a new window popups
Click on "Tapping" which is listed on the corner of the window
Now after clicking on it...on the right...check that there is "Tapping Enabled or not"
if not...click on that White box...
and Apply
then ok
Done :)

in that case you must plug in a usb mouse and see if it is working.

    try collaborating again

if your mouse failed to respond , i am afraid there is a bad news for you
While it's unlikely, there is a chance the touchpad's connection to the motherboard may have broken, perhaps due to heating malfunctions or other internal problems. The connection to the motherboard is delicate. If the computer has been worked on recently, it's possible the technician forgot to reconnect the touchpad.
If the touchpad driver works properly but the touchpad still does not function, the connection may have failed. Checking and repairing the connection requires the computer be partially disassembled. It is not a repair to be undertaken by an unskilled technician. If a motherboard problem will require its replacement, it may be more expensive than the computer's value warrants.and as per my experience i suspect a motherboard fault.
Sorry for such a bad news.

    you may do so.
...but i found wonders for your problem

If you upgrade or replace normal hard disk, disk
    cloning software
will easily complete the operating. If you want to
replace your operating system hard disk, chances are the new one will
be both faster and larger than your original disk. Since you can have
multiple drives in your system, it makes sense to keep operating system
on the fastest drive, since its speed will make the most difference in
that configuration. But the trouble is, the system cannot just be copied
over from your old drive to the new one. There are essential files and
applications will not be created on the new disk if you try this. What
    should we do now?

Of course you can choose to reinstall operating system on the new
hard disk drive, which means reinstalling all your software and redoing
your personal configurations all over again. The programs installed on
the old hard disk will not work on the new system installation because
the registry. No matter which system you use, Windows 7/Vista/2000/XP or
Windows Server 2008/2003/2000, run any installed programs needs
necessary information, but the brand new operating system will not
contain it to make them work.

    Don't worry! EASEUS Todo
    Backup
    - powerful backup &
    recovery software
can clone operating system disk to new hard disk
drive without system and applications reinstallation.

Steps to upgrade system hard disk drive

If you want to move your Windows operating system to new hard disk
drive which is replacing your old one without needing to reinstall
system, software and any settings. Do as the following says.

    • Launch EASEUS Todo Backup and click Clone.

    • Select Disk clone.

    • Select source disk you want to clone.

    • Select the destination disk. You can also tick "Sector by sector
clone" option to do sector-by-sector clone, it can clone all sectors
from source disk to destination disk.

    • Preview your source disk and destination disk after cloning.

    • Click Proceed to clone the disk.

After finish the operations above, shut down the computer and
then replace source hard disk with the destination hard disk.

i believe it can't get better than this so if i helped you please accept this solution.
    Thanks

Transfer books from Kindle to iPad

You are able to move the books to computer, and then sync ebooks to iPad with iTunes. When the Kindle users connect their Kindle tablets to computer with the USB cable, their computers will recognize their Kindle tablets as external hard drives. Then the users can copy and paste the ebooks from Kindle to computer easily. After that, the users are able to sync the books from computer to iPad with iTunes.

This is easy to be done. But when users begin to sync their iPad with iTunes, they may come up with the sync problems of iTunes. The problem may come up when users sync ebooks from iTunes to iPad. During the sync, iTunes will erase all the non-purchased items in your iPad mini. If you are new to iOS devices, you will probably lose files during the sync with iTunes, so you'd better close the auto sync and manually sync the ebooks to your iPad mini with iTunes. The following tutorial will be helpful if you aren't sure about how to accomplish the task:
  1. Start iTunes and go to "Edit > Preference > Devices", and check "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically".
  2. Plug iPad into computer via USB cable, and the software will recognize your iPad and display the iPad icon at the upper right corner.
  3. Click the iPad icon and choose "Books" in the summary panel. Choose the books you want to sync to iPad in the list below, and click "Apply" to start.

Have downloaded e-books from the library, but can't delete them from my Nook.

For some books, downloaded from your PC, the only way to delete them is to attach the Nook Simple Touch to your PC and open the Nook Simple Touch on the PC. (For a PC, open the computer icon and look for the Nook icon and click on that.) From your PC you can delete files from the Nook Simple Touch or move them off the Nook Simple Touch to your PC.
IF you have a MAC or if my advice doesn't work, you should contact the Nook support. It is at the Nook website. Click on Nook and look for Nook support.

My pen for my computer won't work

I think the pen has gone bad on you, since your screen can still detect your hand and the track pad. I would think the pen is faulty. Try another pen cause I think your original is bad, if it was the touch feature that wasn't working I would say its a driver problem but that feature still works with the exception of the pen. Get another pen.
