Problem with only receiving intermittent notification of SMS messages, even from the same mobile

It is probably not your phone but your carrier. Contact them and complain!!

Sometime updating the "roaming feature" will help.

Here is the info for Verizon, but many other carriers are similar:

Hope this helps. J

Updating Preferred Roaming List(PRL)

Verizon Wireless is constantly advancing its roaming technology to provide you with superior roaming capabilities. By updating your PRL every few weeks, you can be sure you have access to our enhancements. As a result you may experience:
  • Longer battery life
  • Fewer dropped or blocked calls
  • Clear, crisp connections in more areas across the United States
  • Ability to connect to the digital network in more parts of the country

Instructions for updating your PRL:

  1. Power on your phone within any Verizon Wireless digital service area.
  2. Dial *228 and then press SEND (this call is airtime free).
  3. When prompted, press option 2 to update your phone's roaming capabilities
(the update may take up to 2 minutes).
  4. Once completed, a confirmation message will appear to inform you that your phone has been re-programmed with the new PRL.

Text messages (SMS) remain on "Sending"

Probably a connection issue. Ask your network supplier.

Samsung Galaxy SMS "sending" issues

As your using samsung galaxy your mobile is just fine and it have no problem but your message services center number has changed.you just dial up your customer care number and talk with the customer care person after that they will give you the message services center number after changing that number you can switch off your mobile for a while after that you can switch on your phone and then start sending the message from your number to any of your friends number. var geo_Partner = '687b82b2-54e8-44dc-93c0-87c73f39cdb0'; var geo_isCG = true;

Hello!
If you would like to be able to use basic phone functions like SMS and Calls in a different country:
Be sure you have enough credits to call and SMS while roaming.
  • If you're using the same SIM card to text in the US, be sure that you have enough credits for it to do so.
Turn on your roaming before you go to the US.
  • You can ask your local carrier how to do so. Check their site, call customer support, etc.

Check if your Galaxy S is not in Airplane Mode
  • Check your notification bar at the top. If you see an airplane icon there, you're in Airplane mode and you're not receiving any mobile signal at all.
  • If this is the case, just hold your lock button for at least 1 second and a menu will appear with the options "Silent Mode, Flight Mode, Power Off." Click "Flight Mode" and your phone should have cellular signal in no time.
Check if you're connected to a Carrier and your phone is not searching for one.
  • You'll know if you're connected to a network if you have a carrier's name (i.e. Verizon) on your notification drawer (you know, the thing you pull down from the top of the screen?). If not, go to Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Network Operators then choose your carrier of choice.
Buy a Prepaid SIM in the US.
  • This could be a last resort, but, yes, you should be able to buy a SIM card in the US for you to use. Probably you can find them in the airport.

Feel free to ask me if you have any queries! :) ~azukibean70

I am trying to change my text message ringtone. I would like to put a song from my music as a message ringtone.

Thank you for using FixYa,
You can't change the messaging tone to a song from your music playlist, these options for choosing your own music as ringtones are restricted to an alarm tone, phone ringtone and caller ringtone (caller ringtone is when specific people calls you, a certain ringtone would appear for that caller to differentiate between callers)
However, you can change your message ringtone to certain ringtones for your Galaxy S phone by going through the following steps: (P.S I am assuming that you are using the stock Samsung SMS application)
1) Go to your stock Samsung SMS app (it's named as 'Messaging')
2) Press the softkey 'menu' button
3) Go to settings, scroll down and from there you can see the option 'select ringtone'

Cheers!
