Question about TechnoMarine Squale Watch

1 Answer

The red second hand came loose on my watch but it worked fine. I took it to a local repair store and they put it back on. When returned it was not working. When you tried to unscrew the middle arm to set time/date it turned rough. Once unscrewed and pulled out to 1st notch it set time (not date only like usual). At the second notch it changes time and the date also changes quickly. Could they have put it back together wrong? Their response was that there is only one way to put it back together and that it must just be a internal mechanical problem? Thank you, John

I would make no claim to be an expert at watch repair but for the last 35 years I've been fixing almost everything else. It sounds to me like somebody screwed up and now they don't take the responsibility. If it worked properly to set the time and date before and doesn't now it sounds to me like they should at least fix that.Best of luck to you. Thanks

Second hand is moving the minute had as a second hand

It sounds as though the minute hand is loose, and being driven around by the seconds hand. It is fairly easy to rectify this yourself, IF you have the expertise and correct tools for the job. Otherwise, I would suggest you took it to a reputable watch repairer - but be sure you're happy about the price before proceeding. It may be that the cost of repair outweighs the value of the watch.

Mk 5473 watch is loosing time

Okay, so I'd the watch dial says automatic or manual wind you should be able to wind the watch to get it to start working. If the second hand is sweeping buy the minute and hour or just minute hand does not go around properly there are different issues. One. It could be the pinion that is loose, (major repair) two, the watch needs an overhaul meaning cleaned and re oiled(less likely). If only minute hand is giving trouble, its loose(the 2nd hand) or the pinion is loose.

Just had the battery replaced on my Wenger Swiss Army watch Model : 7987X/T. The red second needle is no longer moving.. its stuck on the 30 min mark. Watch works fine otherwise. Could not find any info...

If the second hand of your watch isn't moving, but the watch is otherwise keeping time, you most likely have one of two problems. The simpler to fix problem is that the second hand might have come loose from the post onto which it's been fitted. It's a simple friction fit, and a watch technician would simply remove the watch movement from the case and very (very!) gently push down on the seconds hand to re-seat it. If that's the problem, that's all there is to the repair.

A second potential cause for this behavior could be that a speck of dust or crud has gotten into the gears that operate the seconds hand, preventing it from moving. This can easily happen when changing a battery--many watches tend to get somewhat of a buildup of crud where the watch back meets the case. Especially with screw back cases, the process of loosening the back also loosens the crud layer, making it easy for little bits to fall in. If you do have crud in your movement, you're a bit limited in what you can do. Unlike old-time mechanical movements, very few quartz movements are made to be disassembled and cleaned. Instead, a watch repairer may be able to blow some air (not compressed air from a can--that will probably wreck your movement) to try to clear the gears. If that doesn't work, there is a little device that some watchmakers have that runs your watch at about 50 time as fast as normal. Spinning the gears like that can sometimes generate enough force to clear a blocked gear train. I have done this to resurrect several watches whose hands were stuck. However, I was still able to see the "pulse" of the second hand on those watches, even if the hand itself never moved forward.

Brand New Watch second hand won't move. won't keep time.

The watch has a problem in the timing module and the second hand won't move (a cog wheel issue) this is clearly a manufacture defect that can not be remedied and should be returned since it is under warranty.

We bought the Fossil Brown rectangle watch model FS4284, it stopped working so thought it was the battery. we replaced the battery and then 2 months later it's not working again, faulty battery or is...

  • Change the battery. If your watch stops ticking, chances are the watch is not broken and the battery simply needs to be replaced. You can purchase a watch battery at your local department store or drugstore. Use the screwdriver to pry the back off the watch and place the new battery in the same place where the old one fit.
  • Step 2 If your watch is still not working, determine the problem. If you can hear the watch ticking but the hands are not moving, there may be a gear stuck inside. If only one of the hands does not move, the hand itself could be broken. Once you determine the problem, you can see whether it makes more sense to purchase a new watch or get the old one fixed.
  • Step 3 Check your watch warranty. If your Fossil watch came with a warranty that is not yet expired, Fossil will fix your watch if you send it to the company and pay for shipping and handling. See the "Resources" section below to fill out the Watch Repair Form provided by Fossil.com. If your watch strap is broken, however, Fossil will charge you a fee as broken straps are not covered in the warranty.
  • Step 4 Check a competing local watch repair store. There are watch repair stores located all over the United States that will repair a Fossil watch if your watch is no longer under warranty or if you do not want to pay the shipping and handling to send the watch to Fossil's watch repair department. Although the watch repair store may not have the exact strap you are looking for, it may offer a replacement strap that is similar to the one that originally came with your watch.
  • Step 5 Return the watch to the store where you bought it. If you purchased a Fossil watch that was broken when you purchased it or broke recently after you brought it home, you may be able to return the watch for a refund or store credit. Check with the store's policy before purchasing the watch if you are concerned about returns.

Sweep second hand sticking on colibri pocket watch. How can I correct. I just had battery replaced.

mcdevito75 here, This is a very common problem easily fixed, when the battery was change the repair prerson could have interfered with the seconds hand bending it ever so slightly so it hits the other hands or it became loose, return to the person who changed the battery, they"ll take the back off and fix that seconds hand. Remember this may be no ones fault so I don"t know about any extra charges for service on your watch. This is just my info to you.

Watch hands not moving after battery change.

I suspect that there is a setting up procedure that needs to befollowed when the batteries have been replaced. (I had a similarproblem when I did this with my watch - although the hands were moving, they were incorrect!)

I was unable to find any instructions on their web site but if you go to their web site (/www.sekonda.co.uk/) or your own area web site for Seconda, at the top of the page you will see a store locator tab, click on this to find your local store and ask them for some instructions.

A "non" fully charged watch will sometimes "jump" seconds rather than indicate one second intervals. Charging these small solar panel watches takes forever, in BRIGHT sun. Have you tried leaving it outside, in the sunlight, for at least 12 hours?
