The belt is broken.Turn the vacuum so you are looking at the brush. That palte needs to come off. Some screw and some just pop on and off. When you have the plate off lift the brush out.The belt fits in a groove on the brush. The other end of the belt fits on a small wheel about 6 inches behind the brush.Put the new belt on and replace the plate.

Is the brush always supposed to turn, even when upright?

I have a similar Hoover upright and the brush roller continues to revolve even with the handle locked and the hose detached for direct pickup. Seems rather odd to wear out the carpet that way.

Common generic problem with Dyson upright vacuum brush bar

I see lots of problems with Dyson vacuum cleaner brush bars not revolving, this is normally because the belt has broken, this is an easy and relatively cheap fix. Remove the sole plate normally held by a couple of quarter turn plastic connectors, once the sole plate has been removed the brush bar can be lifted out of it's slotted position, remove the remnants of the old belt. With the new belt manouvre it over the motor spindle first then position brush bar through belt and slot the brush back into its slots and reattach sole plate. This procedure should take no longer than ten minutes even for a total novice.

This is a post from you concerning a Sebo vacuum cleaner."OK - I'm a Sebo expert, and we will get to the bottom of this! I need you to do one thing for me: lie the machine on one side, then switch it on...

First, what is the issue you are experiencing?

You should feel some resistance when turning the beater bar as it is being driven by a fairly tight belt and a motor. The most common issue with the beater bar would be a burning rubber smell. This would mean that the bar was not turning while is was on but in your case it is.

Hoover Whole House Bagless Upright. Belt Changed but Brushes arent moving

Take off the bootom plate and remove the brush assembly. Inspect both ends for any hair, string or anything else that might prevent it from revolving. Check to see that the ends are lubricated with some grease, just a bit. It should take care of the problem. The ends should turn easily and smoothly.

Brush not revolving

Hi there,
The basic reasons for the brush not turning are as follows
problem with the bearings of the brush roller
problem with the belts
problem with the clutch
Or the vacuum is set to Hard Floors.
I have made a video of how to sort out problems with the bearings, brush, clutch etc
Have a look at my video and if it helps you please leave a comment, testimonial or maybe a box of chocolates :)
If you figure out that you need parts I would encourage you to check out nelsonvacuums or vacuumspot.
Hope this helps

New Filters have been fitted on the Sebo automatic XI

OK - I'm a Sebo expert, and we will get to the bottom of this! I need you to do one thing for me: lie the machine on one side, then switch it on and look to see if the brush roller is revolving - KEEP FINGERS and all loose items WELL CLEAR. Does the brush revolve? Then, with the machine switched off and unplugged, see if you can rotate the brush roll by hand. Does it revolve easily, or is there a lot of resistance? Then post a reply here saying what you observe. I'll get back to you when I've got your reply.

BELTLESS BRUSH WILL NOT REVOLVE

I bought my parents the exact same model. Do you have the floor select switch "ON" for the brush? Did the overload protector switch trip? There is a little red button sticking out from the right hand side of the head. Check to see if it is pertruding past the cover. If so, push button in and it should reset.

Should the brushes revolve something got caught on the brushes when vacuuming up

Yes, the brushes (beater bar) should revolve. Even though the brush is spinning, you probably need to replace the belt2_bing.gif because it is stretched. It is probably slipping on the beater bar..
