How to charge a vivitar dvr 850w flash media camcorder?

Connect the camera to either a powered USB port on a computer or a wall outlet using the supplied charger. The connector is inside the cover on the back of the handgrip. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries.

The full instructions are in the "Preparing Your Camcorder for Use" section of the manual. If you need a manual, you can download one at

How do I charge my camcorder?? through the computer??

In most of this kind of devices, the USB data transfer cable also charges the battery of the portable device when connected to a computer or a laptop. They can be also charged with a wall adapter with compatible USB connector on it.

How am I supposed to charge my HD flipshare video camcorder?

On one side of your camcorder is a silver area that has a raised arrow made out of little bumps. Take your thumb and slide that arrow down. An arm should pop out that has a USB connection at the end of this arm. Plug it into a computer or laptop live USB port and make sure the computer stays ON. the camcorder will not charge if computer is turned off. If the connection is good, a RED Light should come on in the front of the camcorder. This light will stay on till the charge is complete. this may be only a short while or could take over night if drained completely.
Don't let the camcorder dangle by this arm - I prop mine on some cases that blank CDs come in to raise the camcorder up to the level of my USB port.

My Flip Ultra HD has a red light that blinks when I try to charge it. It won't charge, what can I do to charge it?

Make sure you use a good USB 2 port and make sure your computer stays turned ON during the charging or it will not charge. The red light should stay on on the front of the camcorder while charging and will go off when charging is complete.
Try a different USB port maybe also. or if using a USB extension make sure it is a powered extension, and if not, connect the camcorder directly into a USB instead of using an extension.
My extension has a light to show that it is a powered extension.

  4. With the exception of the mouse, keyboard, and camcorder, remove any other USB connected devices from the computer.
  5. Turn on the camcorder.
  6. On the camcorder LCD screen, touch the computer or hard disk icon.

Flip Mino HD red light won't turn off after charging. Camera won't do anything at all. What do I do?

return it for a refund! i bought one, it did the same as yours. i returned it and bought the 2nd one. It did the same as the first one (and the same as yours.)

It is a piece of junk. Supposedly the previous Flips were good, unfortunately, I didn't have the previous models so my experiences only are bad.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the computer does not recognize the USB connection from the camcorder.
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Ensure the USB cable is connected securely to the camcorder.
  3. Ensure the other end of the USB cable is connected securely to the USB port on the computer. NOTE: Connection through a USB hub is not supported.
  4. With the exception of the mouse, keyboard, and camcorder, remove any other USB connected devices from the computer.
  5. Turn on the camcorder.
  6. On the camcorder LCD screen, touch the computer or hard disk icon.
  7. If the issue is still not resolved, connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
  8. If the issue is still not resolved, try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver.
  9. If the issue is still not resolved, test the USB port on the computer by connecting a different USB device.

  • If the other USB device operates, the USB cable may need replaced or the camcorder may require service.
  • If the other USB device does not operate, then the issue is being caused by the computer. If the computer is connected to a network, try disconnecting it from the network or connect the camera to a computer that is not on a network. In addition, mapped drives may cause connection issues; drive designations D, E, or F must be available. It may be necessary to contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer.

I will forward a link to a page where you can get the steps to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer.
