Question about GPX BCDW-8815USB Radio/CD Boombox

1 Answer

Several years I bought a C979WHT radio Suffix E1 which I really liked - good tone and all, but shortly after the switch became erratic and only with a lot of patience did it turn the radio on. Is this fixable? If so, how do I do it? I hate to throw it out because once on, it's a wonderful product. Betty Rittersdorf

The switch is most likely a little loose. You could bring it to any electronics store and ask an employee to check it out.

2002 buick lesabre instrument panel lights dim. Dimmer switch has no effect. Dimmer was replaced.

This is more than likely an internal fault in the instrument cluster since the other lights stay bright and you can control them. I suspect that you may need to remove the cluster and have it rebuilt to cure this problem

How do I get my crosley wall phone to work on tone setting? it will only work on the pulse setting which is very slow.

The DTMF [Dual Tone Multi Frequency] tone dialing system operates on Direct Current [DC] and is DEPENDENT ON the PROPER POLARITY of the two phone conductor wires!!!!

IF the polarity is reversed, ONLY the PULSE DIALING WILL WORK!!!!!

USUALLY the Tip and Ring wires are colored Red and Green [I think -- it's been a lotta years!!!!!].

HOWEVER, color really doesn't matter as USUALLY ONLY TWO WIRES ARE CONNECTED TO THE PHONE SO REGARDLESS OF COLOR, JUST REVERSE those two wires.

Try reversing the two wires, and then switch the phone to tone dial and try it. That MAY solve the problem!

If that doesn't solve the problem then it's beyond me!!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

My best guess would be the video adapter switch you have to use to hook up the game console to the TV. If I remember correctly you have to slide a switch to either TV or game depending on whether you are watching TV or playing a game. Over time switches like that need the internal contacts cleaned. You can probably get a can of contact cleaning spray at Radio Shack. Just follow the directions on the can of contact clearer and you will probably fix your problem.

Re: MagOne by Motorola, BPR40 -- What button should I push and how many times to make a radio stop beeping repeatedly before I can communicate? Thanks!

None of the buttons will solve this issue.

A repeating low tone is heard when you press the PTT if your battery level is low. You may have a bad or poorly charged battery. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive, so the first place this shows up is when pressing the PTT. A quick way to check this is to swap batteries with a known good radio and see if the problem switches to the other radio.

Battery tips: Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser to remove the film caused by hand oil. Always charge your battery with the radio turned off. And be certain your charger is plugged into an outlet that is not connected to a light switch shutting off power. Batteries last approx. 2 years. Check your battery's date code to see its age. (3 or 4 digit number, first one-two numbers are the year, second two are the week of the year. example: 1132 would be 2011 the 32nd week)

If the above does not solve your problem, you should see your local Motorola dealer, or a nationwide repair center for more assistance. Current flat rate repair on this style unit is typically around $69.

FYI: Your buttons are likely top button = monitor/sticky monitor and the bottom button could be hi/low power, scan or one of several other features. Each button has a short and a long press option.

Best regards.

Hi All: I have a Microsoft Laser 6000 Mouse Model 1052 - that became erratic within one year. Tried changing to new batteries but to no avail. Any suggestions or is it toast? Cheers, Joe

By erratic, i assume you mean jumping around the screen, etc? get a qtip, cover it with isopropyl, and gently swab the lens. make sure it is free of dirt and scratches. Also clean the area you use your mouse on. It should be fine after you do that.

Magnum 257HP ,Poor TX audio , tried several mics ,SSB ALC , Bias no effect . Did not align TX lower stages . AM , FM are perfect , all RF power outputs perfect , looks good on scope with generator but...

That mod that magnum does really ups the sensitivity. so much thats is too much. If that model has a switch for the compressor turn it off. It will help 100% and make it sound decent not twangy and over modulated. Just the design of these newer exports are not like the old ones.

Unprogrammed channels will have a constant tone. It is possible your radio is unprogrammed. A dead battery tone is only for a moment, and is usually a medium tone then a low tone, sounding somewhat like beeedeeep.
