Question about DeLonghi BAR 32 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I have the DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker. It was working fine until the morning the milk frother would not work. No steam or water came out at all. It didn't even seem to make any noise at all even though it was on the steam setting and I was turning the steam knob. I have cleaned the black plastic attachment at the end. Could it be clogged in the center of the machine somewhere? How would I fix it? The espresso drip part is also pouring out less espresso/at a slower rate. Maybe I just need to run water through it or something else to get out all of the clogs?

This might not be the problem , but sometimes , not cleaning milk frother tip properly , the tip gets closed with dry milk. use a needle and push it in the frother tip and see if there is a restriction. hope this helps.

The milk has a terrible odor and taste when frothing. What should I do?

Please flush the machine with Baking soda solution. Dissolve one heaped table spoonful Baking soda in water. Fill water tank. Flush the solution by dispensing hot water and steam alternatingly until the solution is finished.

There is no milk coming out of the frothing part of the Delonghi Coffee Maker, it just makes a noise and steam comes out.

If no milk comes out of frother, check the o-ring on the upper "plug" where the milk jar connects to the machine. There are two connectors; only the bottom one corresponds to the steam output while the upper one is a plug. Mine had a worn out o-ring on the plug, and this keeps the machine from frothing milk.

Machine will not **** up the milk, just steam comes out when you try to make coffee

remove and clean the O Rings.

I had the same problem, removed the o rings where the milk frother connects to, there is a green, red and black rubber O ring. Remove them and get a toothpick and clean around where they sit. You will notice a hard milk build up like when you get on your teeth. This is what is causing your problem.

........ o rings.........its as if were working on the space shuttle!!

Frother not working

The frother does not have a vacuum, it uses venturi pressure to draw up milk through a venturi at the top of the steam feed. The milk side is clogged from not cleaning enough. soak in boiling water for a few minutes and try to run it in steam mode for a while... if that doesnt work, a light lye solution will dissolve the milk residue clogging it. neutralize the lye with vinegar drawn through after the clog is gone.

(lye will dissolve you as well as milk... use gloves and don't put your face near it while it's working.)
