Make sure you rerun the antivirus software again. Then you will need to do a complete disk cleanup and disk defragment.

As a last resort you can reload windows. There is an option to load new copy or not choose not and you can keep all your files in place.

Slow pc. may have virus?

Do you have an anti virus installed in your computer? If you have one, then run an anti-virus scan in your computer.

The problem seems virus related.

If your anti virus can't fix the problem, then you need to clean reinstall the whole operating system to get rid of the virus.

I hope this helps!

Why is my screen forever freezing up on me

That can result from a virus attack. The viruses are capable of filling up your memory and makes computer operations very slow and eventually freeze. Or it can be a result of a failing hard drive. I suggest that you install an antivirus software, update it and run a full system scan. Restart your computer

My commputer is very slow could you help me speed it up?When opening a program it takes 10-15 mins gpr a program to open.

You probably have a number of viruses on your computer. My suggestion is to download these two programs and uninstall your current anti-virus software (if any).

AVG Free:

AVG is a great anti-virus program that will always be running and protecting you.

Maleware Bytes:

You will want to run this free program as soon as you download it. It will remove any viruses on your computer. This is a great tool to use about once a month to make sure your computer is clean. Do a full scan and wait for it to complete. If you have completed the steps above and still have the problem, you will need more RAM. RAM is temporary memory that your computer uses when it is on. If you have very low RAM, then you will have a very slow computer.

It freezes many times a day and i have to shut it down manually every time

Don't open too many programs at once because they can slow down your computer, especially if your laptop is already aging. You might also want to scan your computer for viruses coz they are common causes of computer slowdowns.

My computer, Windows XP, freezes when I use Firefox

Your system loaded with Windows Xp Operating System might get affected by various viruses and malware. The antivirus softwares installed in your system for the removal and prevention of viruses from your system cause the freezing issue. This antivirus softwares might take too many time to load and it also make the entire system slow to boot. The antivirus programs result in the freezing of the Windows Xp during start up. Thus you need to temporary uninstall the antivirus software during the start up of your system.

Computer slow;freezing up

First choice is the RESTORE option. Installed programs will still be there (may lose desktop icon) and you can always reinstall / re update adobe if needed. After all what good is a virus program and Adobe update if you can'nt use the computer. Adobe Reader will sometimes cause slowdowns on some computers (mine) while in the browser online.
Download Spybot Search and Destroy (then update it) to find Spyware on the computer. Then download and run Adaware to seacrch for additional adware programs. These should help clean the system of some of the trash. Again I would Restore FIRST so that these will download and run effectively.
