Hi. I recently ordered a Dimension 8300 with an NVIDIA 128MB GE Force FX
5200 video card with Win XP Home Edition. At some point in the future I want
to add a simple TV tuner card (ie just to watch occasional TV, listen to FM
etc.)
Has any one had any problems (or luck) adding a TV tuner card for the
above.?
I was looking at an ATI TV WONDER VE, or a Hauppauge WinTV model 401 , and
am curious if there are any known compatibility problems.

I have a DIm4550, 64MB GeForce4 MX 420 w/ TV out, and TV Wonder VE
(bought over a year ago for a different Dell). No problems connecting
or running. The ATI software is pretty lousy, but I've been using a
free copy of ShowShifter that came with a magazine. Both programs work
fine. The VE (at least myine) doesn't have FM.

I've always been an ATI fan (have the All-in-wonder on a few machines now),
but this time I'm ready for change and think I'll go Hauppauge re FM tuner,
etc.

I tried have has both an ATi as well as the Hauppauge card in an 8300 -it
took me a long time to determine why they didn't work and resolve the
problem.
Both cards are hyperthreading incompatible. Please disable HT in the BIOS if
you wish to use either card. 'Hopefully' compatible software will be
available.
