You do not have to have a seperate Sw for power mgmt as all Windows have it inbuilt and very effective at that. Please look for it in Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance.

Hi Leonard,

  • A change in operating system should not affect your laptop's battery usage , this could be as a result of incorrect power settings in windows 7.
  • However when you install windows 7 the default setting for power management is to save power.
  • It could be that you require some more modifications in those settings , therefore I would recommend you to go through the below link which I have found to help you for setting up your system with the appropriate power settings in windows 7 as per your convenience and usage.http://bit.ly/mmGQQb
  • Remember one important point that the more brightness you have on your laptop's screen , the more it will use power , there fore I recommend you to keep it at the minimum , just at a level that you can read things comfortably without any stress on your eyes.

Hope this helps .. Your feedback would be appreciated.

Hi,
there is no such thing as "service pack 3 for Windows 7".

Windows Xp - sp1, sp2, sp3

Windows Vista - sp1, sp2

Windows 7 - sp1

Windows 8 - 8.1

Could you please tell me that you haven't installed the customization pack & that you have Windows 7?

What app were you trying to install?

Base system missing

Is this in Device Manager? Did you notice this after the Win 7 upgrade? If so , it's a common problen when upgrading, Is that the only issue? Your Card Reader work? Modem? Co-processor? I have a HP Pavilion DV9320us I loaded Win 7 64bit Ultimate on with similar issues, modem, co-processor, card reader, etc. Use the Win Vista drivers, modify the drivers for Win 7. HP drivers found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001&lc=en&product=3548477& AND change compatibility of drivers , This will give you the general idea: http://www.techsupportforum.com/4478-installing-a-device-driver-under-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7/

How can i get windows 7 on this particular device? I keep getting a message saying that it's not compatible. I'm sure it can be done, am I missing something? Trying to install 32bit windows 7 ultimate...

you are unable to upgrade for Windows XP to 7, you have to do a fresh install which involves a format which will mean you will lose all of your data unless you back it up

if you are running Vista you cannot upgrade from Vista 64bit to 7 32bit, again you have to do a fresh install

to do a fresh install insert the Windows disc and reboot your computer, make sure your computer has it's boot priority set to
1. DVD Drive
2. HDD

and if that's done correctly just follow the prompts to install windows.

I m lookin for installing dual boot with Vista ultimate n Windows 7, gotta dvd for both, any help??

If you wan to fresh install, here you can do ::
Try following steps.
Restart the PC, Press Delete for some time
It will lead you to BIOS setting
Go to the Boot Priority menu,
select DVD ROM as First Boot and HDD as Second Boot

Now Insert your Operating system CD: Vista Ultimate
Restart the PC and when screen says " Press any key to continue"
hit "enter"
Let the CD load and then select New Installation
Format the drive by pressing L, and then create three partition , 100 GB for Vista Ultimate, 100 GB for Windows 7 and rest for data.
Hit enter and let os Load

After complete OS loading, system will restart and again you will see " Press any key to continue"
DO NOT PRESS ANY KEY.

OS will boot and register it with microsft. create login and then remove OS DVD,

Insert the Windows 7 DVD
restrt the system, Hit enter when it says " enter any key to continue"
select new installation, point to the earlier created partition for windows 7 installation
proceed with same procedure.
after complete installation, when you restart the pc, you will find both the BOOT entries at booting.
do not forget to load device drivers on both the OS.

Enjoy!

My Acer Ferrari 1005 WTMi went blank and just showing a blinking hyphen on the left top part of the screen........I was trying to install a fresh windows 7 ultimate from windows vista ultimate. After it...

Try starting from the windows cd. Basically you want to make sure you haven't lost the Video totally. Boot the machine but go into BIOS setup before windows loads. If you can see you BIOS settings make sure the machine meets the requirements of Windows 7 as each time windows updates the system requirements increase. If it does meet these try loading Windows 7 again but choose a lower video setting or use the generic video driver.

Windows Vista Bootup problems

Did you (sorry for the underline....not sure how it got here) call Microsoft to have them give you another product key? This is the new procedure now. If you do a reinstall with your Windows Operating System, you have to call in to receive a new product key. This should fix it.

Good luck!

Upgrade to vista ultimate

If you have a full version of Windows Vista Ultimate, you can just insert the DVD when you logged in your laptop and go to Computer(My Computer) and lauch the installer for Windows on DVD icon (Double Click DVD icon). It will give you the main window for installing Windows and along the way, you should find an Upgrade option. Click that one and it will install windows Ultimate on your system. It Will not format the laptop but installer will just add system files and features to the laptop to run Vista Ultimate.

**If you haven't purhcase a Windows Vista Ultimate Disc, check this link to to purchase just an upgrade Disc (only) of Vista Ultimate.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/anytime-upgrade-overview.aspx

An upgrade disc will also not format the laptop instead it will just install additional features and add additional files on the system to run Windows Vista Ultimate
