I have had a virus

I have had a virus removed but can not return my computer from default mode to normal operation.O/S XP Professional have tried system restore but to no avail.

looks like the virus has damaged some sensitive XP files, you need to repair XP using the XP CD. The best way to do these is to use the F3 for repair just after you press F8 for the license agreement
