a. From the main menu select, Menu-Setup --> Maintenance --> Check other.

SOURCE: Dear support hi! I need

Solution : Replace the Imaging Unit The life of the Imaging Unit is approximately 20,000 pages for black and white, or 12,500 pages for color. When the life span of the Imaging Unit has expired, the Smart Panel program window will be displayed on the computer, indicating the unit needs to be replaced; otherwise, your printer will stop printing.
WARNING: Some parts inside the printer may be hot when the printer is powered ON, or after printing. Be careful not to burn yourself when working inside the printer.
To replace the Imaging Unit:

  1. Power OFF the printer. Press the power switch on the back of the printer to the OFF position (O).

  2. Wait for the printer to cool.
  3. Open the Front Cover.

  4. Remove all of the Toner (Dry Ink) Cartridges and the Waste Toner Container from the printer. See the Related Items below for additional information.
  5. Pull the Imaging Unit out of the printer using the handle on the bottom of the unit.

  6. Extend the top handle on the Imaging Unit and then grasp the handle to pull the unit completely out of the printer.

CAUTION: Do not use sharp objects, such as a knife or scissors, to open the Imaging Unit package as this could damage the surface of the unit. Be careful not to scratch the surface of the unit.

Do not expose the Imaging Unit to light for more than a few minutes. Cover it with a piece of paper to protect it, if necessary.

  7. Remove the new Imaging Unit from its package. Remove the protective devices on both sides of the unit and the paper protecting the surface of the unit.
  8. Holding the handles on the new Imaging Unit, insert and push the unit into the printer until it clicks into position.

  9. Remove the four dummy caps on the Toner Cartridge entrances of the Imaging Unit.

  10. Re-install the Toner Cartridges and the Waste Toner Container into their corresponding slots until they click into position.

  11. Close the Front Cover and make sure it is securely latched. If the cover is not completely closed, the printer will not operate.

  12. Power ON the printer. Press the power switch to the ON position (').

NOTE: Each LED on the Control Panel blinks red in a repeated order. Wait for about three minutes for the printer to reach a 'Ready' status.

NOTE: If there is a cracking sound, re-install the Imaging Unit.
Click on the [Recycling] link under the Product Resources menu on this window.

SOURCE: dear brother, how do I

There is no software that you just use and reset chip. Software discussed in forums like this is generic HEX (machine language) editor used with home built serial interface.

The best solution is getting a chip like this.

SOURCE: Program to reset unit imaging xerox phaser 6110 please

Image units can't be reset by software. There is a chip that needs to be replaced on the cartridge if you refill it with new toner. It should be available from the same place you got the toner. (I assume you refilled it and it still says it is out of toner)

Xerox phaser 7760 saying "non-phaser imaging unit"

There is a snippet on the Xerox website to solve imaging unit recognition problems, link below. Usually this problem only occurs if the NVRAM has been reset or the engine board has been replaced without backing up the NVRAM. You can download the snippet to your printer through Centreware or by downloading the 'File Downloader' utility from the same page above.
Hope this helps.

You sure can, until my piece of sh*t 6110 sied yesterday I emptied it weekly (that's for 2 years). It wasn't that that killed it, the imaging unit went.

This sounds like the doctor blade within the black developer unit inside the image unit has become contaminated. This means that not enough black toner will be attracted to the developer roller. This usually manifests itself as feint thin lines of print running vertically through the text being printed. This can be repaired and is a known issue with this image unit.
If the printer is in warranty tell them you want it replaced, if not then take the image unit back to the supplier you bought it from and demand a replacement.
