One year is the expected normal life for a memory card/drive, it wears out every time it is written. Yours has died of old age, time for a new one.

Hi,
Trying attaching to a different USB port or different computer. If still the problem is not solved try formatting the USB PEN drive using HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. If still not ok, then may be its a hardware issue with the PEN drive.
If its under warranty, try for a replacement.

How to recover data from Pen Drive

omanda_0.jpg
Pen Drive gives ussignificant convenience in today's business life. However, due to human errorsor other reasons, we often meet embarrassed phenomena of losing Pen Drive data. The following are sometypically cases in our daily business life.b>

Practical cases:
1. Pen drive still contain all data, and the space shows the same likebefore, but all files and folders in the pen drive are changed to shortcut.
Cause:
Your pen drive was attackedby virus
Resolution one:
If you oftenuse Pen Drive to transfer data from one computer to another, make sure thecomputer is well protected. If any computer is not protected against virusattacks, the files and folders in Pen Drive may be gone or just change intoshortcut. If that happens, don't panic, you can still get back lost data, Firstly, remove the virus, connect your Pen Drive to one PC that is protectedwith a good antivirus and then scan it, fix all the virus threats that aredetected by the antivirus, After completing scanning, some of the useful filesor folders may deleted. Secondly, use pen drive data recovery program torecover deleted infected files.
Resolution two:
If you can'tdelete virus in Pen Drive, just format Pen Drive and then use data recoveryprogram to retrieve data.b>

2. When transfer files from Pen Drive to PC, mistakenly removed the PenDrive from USB port and some data lost, or press "format" command during theprocess of using Pen Drive. Sometimes, delete data in Pen Drive in one day andfind it is useful in another day and want to recover them.
Cause:
Human error
Resolution:
The data youonce have saved in your pen drive is real hard to remove completely. Firstthing to do is stop using the Pen Drive as the chances of your data beingoverwritten increase as time goes on. Then choose a perfect data recoveryprogram. There are many Pen Drive data recoveryprogram in the internet. Although Ihaven't tested them one by one, Card Data Recovery is the most popular one inthese days.

Steps to recover data fromPen Drive using Card Data Recovery
1.
Plug the Pen Drive into yourcomputer using USB port;
2.
Download Card Data Recoveryand install it on your computer;
3.
Check whether your Pen Drivedisk display in your computer;
4.
Select your Pen Drive;5. Run Card Data Recovery andcontinue the operation under the interface instruction.b>

Usb not recognised

Hello ak1979 ...

1. You're plugging in your Transend USB flash drive to your computer's USB port (as you've done many times successfully before with this SAME flash drive)?

2. It says "windows not recognise usb drive due to malfunction"?
a. Is that EXECTLY what the error says?
b. Is "it" an error dialog (window that pops up), or an error message from your Windows Event error logs? If a dialog, are there any pertinent error message entries in your Windows Event (System) log [Start > Run > type "eventvwr.msc" (without quotes), then "OK"]?

Try a bit of deductive troubleshooting:
  1. Restart (Reboot) your system [for a fresh start, if you will].
  2. Try plugging in your USB flash drive again, but in a DIFFERENT USB port.
  3. Try plugging in ANY OTHER "known good" USB device into the same USB port(s) used thus far that failed.
NOTE: If you EVER get any indication Windows recognizes the flash drive (like no error msg, or it shows in "My Computer"), IMMEDIATELY perform a "Check Disk" on it:
  1. Start > Run... > type "cmd" (without quotes), then "OK".
  2. Type "chkdsk DRIVE_LTR: /f" (without quotes), then hit "Enter" [where DRIVE_LTR is the drive letter of your USB drive]. EXAMPLE: chkdsk E: /f
Good luck, and please post back:
  • to provide any corrections/updates/clarifications.
  • if you have any further questions.
  • to let me know how things work out.

8 GB usb pen drive

Sounds like it's fried. Pen drive sometimes go bad, especially is they are pulled out of a machine without stopping it first. Not much you can do, sorry.

Pendrive is not working

ic, maybe the usb port of your friend's pc is defective which may cause your pen drive to malfunction, probably a shorted usb port. or just maybe your pendrive was dropped by your friend which damage the drive, it happened to me too before.
