Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My grandson was playing with the notebook, now half the keyboard works normal and the other half displays numbers and symbols. The obvious answer is the number lock key which does nothing in this case. Help!

If you read my post you would have seen I said that was the obvious answer and does not help. It has to be a special key combo, but I have no idea after trying everything else.

Hi,

You might have a hardware issue with your laptop keyboard. You have at least 2 options:

1) connect a "normal" USB keyboard to your laptop and use it, instead

2) run the On-Screen Keyboard (osk.exe) and access the characters/keys you want from there

Good Luck!

Number key not working on laptop

If you are talking about the number symbols that are on keys U,I,O,P,J,K,L,M then notice what color the number symbols are on those keys. Normally they are blue or might have a square around them. That means you have to press and hold the key that is the same color or has the square around it on the left side of the keyboard. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left hand portion of the keyboard, then hit the key for the number you want. Notice that the FN function key will be the same color as the numbers. If it's not the FN function key then it will be the key that has the square around it like the numbers has.

You can remove the keyboard from the laptop and on the bottom of the keyboard you'll find part numbers.

search eBay with those part numbers and you should be able to find a replacement for very cheap ;)

Instruction for keyboard on T23 laptop

On most notebook PCs, there is a key at the lower left labeled "Fn". You hold this key down while also pressing the key that has the third symbol you want. This answer works for MOST notebook PC keyboards. I can't guarantee that it will work for yours. Try it.

Ten key pad keys are turned on. How do i switch them off

Solution#1: Accidentally pressing Sft+Numlock key combination will activate & inactivates ten key pad. (You'll see light enabled in padlock symbol with a number in it [i.e.beside ALL CAPS symbol on your lap monitor]).

Use: "ShiftKey+NumLock" (NumbLock Key: 2nd panel from Top right on keyboard)
