For XP

· Insert your Windows XP CD into your CD drive and boot your computer. If you receive the message "press any key to boot from CD," press any key.

· Press "Enter" to set up Windows. After you accept the license agreement, you will be asked if you want start a repair process.

· Press "R" to begin the repair process. Setup will now check your disks and start copying files, which can take several minutes. After this, reboot. Let the computer boot normally (do not press a key to boot from CD).

· Keep your eye on the lower left portion of the screen. When you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press "Shift" and "F10" at the same time. This will open a command line console.

· Type "NUSRMGR.CPL" (without quotes) at the prompt, then press "Enter." This will give you access to User Accounts. Remove or change your password. Write it down. After the repair is finished, you will be able to log on with your new password.

For Vista

1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.

2. Click on the User Accounts and Family Safety link.

Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the User Accounts icon and proceed to Step 4.

3. Click on the User Accounts link.

4. In the Make changes to your user account area of the User Accounts window, click the Remove your password link.

5. In the text box on the next screen, enter your current password.

6. Click the Remove Password button to confirm that you'd like to remove your account password.

7. You can now close the User Accounts window.

Hi,

Do you want to reset or remove the actual BIOS Admin password ? Have you contacted Dell regarding this ?

Try using the password as Dell ( only 3 attempts )

If this does not work, try the steps below.

Try to reset the CMOS.
Disconnect the computer from the mains supply, open the casing, remove the CMOS battery.
Reset the CMOS by using the jumper, replace the jumper to its original position, put back the battery and start the system.

Regards,
Ron

I can't reset bios password to my dell k137p inspiron 1440?

Unplug everything and remove the battery. Open it and remove the CMOS battery and wait 3 minutes. Boot it up without the CMOS, it should say password disabled, now you can put everything back together.

Hello i need the master password to clear cmos for laptop dell 1440 the service tag (s/n) is :4WMP7L1 thanks

I don't think there is such password.
You could contact dell and ask for the password if there is.
If not then best option is to remove and reseat the CMOS battery.
Contact Dell and tell them to provide you with the steps to remove and reseat the CMOS battery.
It will reset all the BIOS values.
