Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

Is there a way I could plug my Xbox 360 console into my Scientific Atlanta 3250 cable box? The co-axial plugs on my TV are burnt out and the only choice I have is to plug my Xbox into the cable box. How would I go about achieving this?

There is a video source button on the remote but when I push it, a little light that says Bypass lights up but nothing changes.

  • ahess20 May 18, 2011

Ok, supposedly the ones I plugged into were the Out plugs. There are no other plugs on the box.

  • ahess20 May 18, 2011

ok, well the IN parts of my TV are dead, is there a way I can circumvent this?

You could use a dvd player or a video player to run your xbox through them as long as your tv has a regular cable input that works. You should be able to run it through your cable box too as long as you have enough inputs to connect it to.

Here is a link to your cable box manual on line that explains what the connections are for on the back of your box. Go to page 2 or 3 to find the instructions on how to connect a video game console to your cable box to use on your tv. Just follow the instructions and it should work just fine!

Hello,

There are two methods to connect an Xbox 360. You can use the A/V cables or HDMI. I included pictures below of the connections.

A/V - These come with most Xbox package and are standard Audio Video cables.

Is there a way I - g33k4u_0.jpg

HDMI - This is a high definition hookup for newer TV's.

If your cable box has either of these connections then you can hook it up.

If you Xbox is plugged in, you may have to switch the input on your cable box to AV or HDMI. Usually, you will have a input/source button on the cable box or remote you can press until you reach the right input.

Yes, the AV cables go into IN and your box may not have this.

If your TV or cable box has a HDMI connection you can use that, however, outside of HDMI an AV there are no other options. HDMI cables are fairly cheap. The one I use cost $15.

How to set up your xbox 360 without causing overheat

take everything out your new xbox 360 packaging. there should be:
1)a console (obvioiusly)
2) a cable that connects your 360 to a power block
3) a power block that connects your xbox to the wall
4) a cable that connects your xbox to the tv
5) a small rectangular box that connects your cable into the scart port on your tv.

lets begin
take the cable and connect it to the power block and move the power block to the side
take the scart plug (small rectangular box) and connect the yellow white and red wires into the approprite slots (these are marked out on your scart plug) and move to the side
pace your console down 90 deg. on its side in your desired position.
WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WA
do NOT place your xbox 360 standing up as this can cause red ring of death syndrome and other known xbox killers due to overheating i am on my second 360 as i never followed my own advise.if you keep your console standing straight it can cause vibrations which knock your cooling sinc out of place. it can also scratch your games more easily and ring them making them UNPLAYABLE. now place all cables you set aside and connect them into appropriate slots on the back of the console. and connect them into wall socket and tv.
thanks for reading.now wheres the free cake i was promised.

Why does neither the co-axial cable from my DVR Cable box nor the one from my TV fit into the coaxial plug on the Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo ?

Check the coaxial cable connector type. There are two kinds--one that look like the RCA connector that you can just push in.

The other kind has a nut that you have tighten over the coaxial cable connector on the DVD recorder.

Got new dvr box (not HD connection). had to use inputs that xbox was connected to on tv for my dvr. how do I connect the xbox 360 now so that we can use it without switching out the connections?

There are a couple ways to do this. The cheaper way is to buy some RCA Y adapters. You'll need one for each input (3, probably). Plug the male end into your TV, then plug the (yellow, red or white) cable from the XBox and DVR into the other ends of the cable. The downside of this is that you'll need to turn off the box you're not using in order to see the screen OK.

The slightly more expensive way is to purchase a switch box from Best Buy or Radio Shack or any where on the internet. The switch box will work like the Y adapters, but you can have both boxes on. If these are the only two devices that you need to use, then you only need a 2 way switch. Buy the switch and three RCA cables. Plug the RCA cables into the back of the switch in the output holes, and plug the other end into the TV. Plug the DVR and XBox cables into the input sections of the switch. Then you press one button for DVR on the switch and the other button for the XBox.

When x box 360 is plugged in to tv,there is no signal

try reconnecting all the cables and make sure you have the right setting(normal tv or hd, theres a switch on the cable), if that doesnt work, you might have a faulty cable, or even worse your xbox has an interal problem(very hard to explain, read this if you cant connect to tv....(http://xbox-experts.com/e/errorcodes.php) and you'll need to send it to microsoft for repairs.
