The horizontal output transistor in the high voltage stage has shorted loading down the power supply preventing the tv from coming on, repair cost will be in the area of $150.00.

This is a classic problem. You will find bad capacitors in the startup and horizontal deflection. I will give you location numbers and the values will be very close. You will need to examine each capacitor value as you pull one out (one at a time) and replace it. Be sure you have the same polarity and always use a 105 degree capacitor. First location is CX2105 at 35 volts 220Mf, CX2110 35 volts at 100Mf, C2104 50 volts at1Mf, CX3218 160 volts at 2.2Mf, CX3205 16 volts at 100Mf,CX3413 50volts at 22Mf, and CX3416 25 volts at 100Mf. This will restore your TV. Once again, the locations are correct. You must read the values on each capacitor to be certain of the values. I hope this gives you a good start for repairs. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

There is a burned capacitor cx3210 and melted thermister thx3415 in Zenith B36A24Z Can dirt cause this problem from overheating or arcing?

When more dust accumulate, and absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, ther is a chance to get arcing. Clean the device by using a vaccum cleaner if possible. Burned degaussing coil cannot be repaired. It should be replaced along with degaussing posistor.

Zenith tube tv has thin white lines but no picture and I can hear audio

Hello jreese, Hi, Most definitely its a horizontal output problem, your tv has no horizontal deflection to pull the screen vertically, the power transistor that produces the high voltage is bad, this needs to be replaced. definitely you always have sound, the audio section is a separate block from the high voltage block, go look for a technician to have this checked.

Zenith b36a24z

Unfortunately, the drop damaged the picture tube. There's a piece inside the tube called the shadow mask. It is supposed to make sure the 3 electron beams in the tube strike only their own colors, and it has been warped or shifted by the drop. There is no repair except to replace the picture tube.
