Your TV has developed a bad flyback transformer. You also will have a bad horizontal transistor. A bad picture tube can contribute to a stressed transformer and transistor. Another reason this TV is on the fritz, you have bad capacitors. Sometimes a bad capacitor will take down the most important ICs in a TV. I would not recommend a repair, as it will be to costly. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support.

Can't get sound

Sounds (pardon the pun) like the HDMI was providing audio as well a video feed even though you had separate audio cables plugged in. You could test this by plugging the HDMI back in and unplugging the audio.

My guess is you need to select the audio source in the device (what is it? A TV?)

My lcd tv has a purple screen and no sound

same problem all set to replace TV but tried another source DVD instead of dish and it was fine. Possible the cable (cheap HDMI) but reboot the dish (hard) pull the plug and fixed it up, probably the HDMI connection at the source or the TV (or the cable)

Hi. I have a 2004 52' Flat screen projection TV. For the past couple months, we have turned on our TV and all we hear is sound, but no picture comes up. We thought the bulb was having problems. We ordered...

The buzzing is the ballast arc gap, normal sound. When the tv starts does the lamp start to come on. Can you see any light from the back? Sounds like bad ballast. Unfortunatly this part is no longer available. the light engine will have to be removed and sent to Toshiba to be rebuilt.

No Video for my cable tv. Audio works

You have the TV connected to the cable box with an HDMI cable, I'll bet. The problem is with the cable box. If you unplug the cable box and plug it back it it will reboot and proabably work. You should connect the cable box to the TV using component cables and you won't have this problem again.

Toshiba 43A61 - No Picture, no sound

If your set all of a sudden won't come on, e.g., the screen is blank, but the LED on the under the screen next to the on/off switch keeps flashing, then there may be an internal fault on the set that needs to be reset.
To force the reset, try this:
  • Unplug the set and wait a few seconds
  • Replug and see if the video returns
Whenever the set senses an internal fault through its monitoring circuitry, it essentially shuts down the set. The flashing LED provides the indication that a fault has been detected. Removing power to the set resets the monitoring circuitry. When plugged back in, the circuitry again does a check of the system. If it finds that there truly is a problem, then the set is shut down and the LED will again flash. In this case, you need to call a service tech. Most of the time, however, the unplug/replug routine is enough to get the set up and running.
