Question about Garden

1 Answer

I need to check the fuel filter on my victa tornado whipper snipper (2 stroke) but don't know where it is! I'd like a diagram, it's no use talking about 'fuel manifolds' or whatever because I don't know what they are. It's almost brand new, worked for awhile but I suspect I've contaminated the fuel. It occasionally starts but stalls almost immediately, then won't start at all. Cheers.

The fuel filter is in the gas tank on the big fuel line. You can use a piece of wire with a small hook to pull the line and filter to the tank opening. These filters are available from small engine repair shops.

SOURCE: my fs 45 whipper snipper is starting but running

I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crackor split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure

SOURCE: Craftmen tractor w/ Kohler engine stalls out continually

Sounds too lean.
Can you cover the air intake with your hand 90% or use the choke a bit and then load the engine to see if it runs better?
If you ever find a carb with manual high and low mixture adjustments that will fit yours......put it on and keep it on.
You can usually get then from older tractors.

SOURCE: Husqvarna YTH2348 stalls after 20mins

First thing to do is check and repair charging system. They are/could be related problems in that there is an electric fuel shut off solenoid on the carburetor and if the battery is going dead, it could be cutting off the fuel flow. I wouldn't worry about the spark plug or cleaning the carburetor just yet.
Put a meter on the battery terminals, run the engine at full speed and check the voltage, If you are not getting around 13,5 volts going back to the battery, repair/replace the charging system. If it is less than 2 years old, it should still be under warranty so you might want to check with your dealer. I am guessing that it is a B&S 23 HP and replacing the alternator can be expensive and time consuming

Rebuild or replace the carburetor. Whichever is cheaper and that should solve the problem

My stihl whipper snipper loses power and cuts out when i try to rev and apply throttle.

With 2 strokes I always start with 'AIR' 'FUEL' 'SPARK' from the sounds of it the choke might be stuck on (choking the motor ha ha) also check the air filter, You have fuel and its moving through but the fuel filter might be slightly clogged. As its starting and going on low your spark unit is ok but you might need a new spark plug.

My 2 stroke whipper snipper won't start

As with all 2 stroke engines,
1. Pump the fuel plug. 3 -5 times.
2. Turn the stop botton onto start.
3. Choke onto hot.
4. Pull the cord . Most important... dont touch the throttle trigger when pulling the cord. Wait until until it starts up.
If you do. (like it says in the instructions, your flooding the engine)

Works every time for me on everyone's whipper snippers.
