Hi zazaandbear...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and then the two screws that hold the filter housing.
Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.
Move the door and front of machine forward to remove.
This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Remove the drum and then you can tighten your screws that hold the blades in place.

While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

SOURCE: My Maytag dryer has a loose dryer drum baffle.

unplug Dryer, open door, Remove two door hinge screws going into front panel, remove two screws on opposite side. Grab front panel on upper sides and twist and pull front panel out. Panel sits on two clips at bottom so you have to tip panel out to unhook from the bottom. You will see a metal hook with two screws in it that holds down the top of the dryer on each side. Remove the screws and hook bracket. Make sure you note how it reinstalls. Top will now lift up and lean back against a wall. It is hinged in back. You can now easily get to the drum baffle screws. Fan has begun to "hum"/squeek" when turned on and keeps me awake at night. I can't find a point to lubricate it. Home and fan are only 2.5 yrs old. Thanks for helpful tips.

Sounds silly, but tighten the fan blades - the blade is fastened to the metal at the top of the blade by two or three screws or bolts.

Good luck!

There are two philips screws on top. I got them with a screw extractor as they were rusted. You won't be able to fasten the blade from the motor side though.

How do I access the drum to tighten the dryer fins

Disconnect power to the dryer !!! Remove the 2 screws holding the door hinges on and remove the 2 screws opposite the door hinges . This will let you pull the top of the front panel outward and lift off the bottom clips . If you have enough room , slide your arm thru the front opening to tighten the screws . Otherwise , remove the 2 screws holding the clips for the top , 1 on each side , and lift the top , to get better access to the screws .

One of the three things that tumble the laundry in the dryer is loose--it is making alot of noise--how do I tighten it

Hi,
I think you are talking about the large ribs that prevent clothes from just sliding in the drum.
They are available as a spare, so are usually screwed in from outside the drum.
To fix your problem, turn off and unplug dryer.
Remove back pannel screws holding the lid on, and slide back the lid.
Rotate the drum by hand internally untill the faulty blade is at the top. You should be able to see the screws that need tightening.
Replace parts when finished.

One of the 3 arm or flip in dryer is very loose

Remove the top of the dryer by removing the four screws in the back. the entire top should slide forward an inch allow you to lift and pivot the top off to the side. it will not come off entirely because of electrical wires. with that moved off to the side you should see the top of the drum. reach in the front door of the dryer and rotate the drum so that the loose blade is at the top. in that position you should be able to tighten the screws.
