You paid for someone to tell you to jump out the defrost timer when all you had to do was advance it with a screw driver to put it into defrost and if you wanted it out of defrost when you heard it click and the fans came on guess what it's out of defrost, you should ask for your money back,i can't believe someone told you to jump out the wires on the timer,if the problem is the compressor isn't running change out the start device like i told you
Testimonial: "I know I only paid five dollars for this follow up, but my "guru" is a little cranky. I do think his advice was helpful."
Thanks for the advice. Is the starting device a capacitor, like on a swimming pool motor?
it's an overload and relay,do what i said, unplug it before you damage the compressor, pop off the clip and slide the start device off of the compressor, there's three pins on the compressor and the device connects to it there, slide your device off and shake it,if it makes a rattling sound it's cooked inside,
go here to the sears site, put in your model number, look up the window that says unit and check out the compressor, copy and paste.....http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir... gotta get to bed, gotta get up at 5.let me know how you make out,if i can help you with anything else let me know.
the part number is 2319793 go to this site put in the number and you can see the part. http://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Par...
when you open the freezer was there any ice on the back inside wall of the freezer,if so you have a defrost problem, bad timer, defrost thermostat or heater, also when you open the freezer door you should hear the fan blowing in the freezer,if not you have a bad evap fan motor, all it does is the freezer gets cold the evap fan blows cold air from the freezer to the fridge side that's it..if the compressor isn't running check the start device
a little cranky,i don't get paid to do this,i read that someone told you to take apart a timer and jump out the wires so i tried to help you out, saved you around 200 bucks for the advice not 5 and you're welcome
I copied and pasted the above link and didn't get any results, so I went to the sears parts direct link and found the parts list for my unit. You said "check out the compressor." Is there an area on this website that tells how to check the compressor?
Thanks
i do this just to help people out,i work on appliances and i know things are tough for everyone so i try to help out a little,i think you can look up my name and click on it and just type what problem you're having and if i know the answer i'd be happy to help you and it's free,i don't know why you had to pay anything like i say i don't get paid to help people out but there is a part of this site that you can ask for assistance and you pay for it,i don't really know how that works,i just come on,i look at the questions and if i think i can help i answer the person, you can ask the fixya people how you can ask for me but like i say i think you can look me up and ask me your question,it stinks that you have a bad compressor, when this happens the last thing it could be is the start device or a bad compressor,at least you tried it to make sure.nice talking with you and like i say if you ever have another problem with your appliances i'd be happy to help.good luck
sounds like you have a bad compressor,it would be cheaper to replace the machine instead of repairing it at this point,it would cost around 5 to 6 hundred dollars to replace the compressor.if the compressor is hot or warm it's getting power and the click you hear is coming from the compressor, the lights dim because it's trying to run but something is cooked inside it.i'm sure you wired the start device correctly,to make sure turn the control off,go in the back and have someone turn the control on and have your hand on the compressor,if the clicking is coming from it then it's time for a new machine.
i get your messages and i've been answering you but i think it isn't going through on the other email we were talking on because it says premium next to that and i don't get paid for this i do this just to help people out,you have a bad compressor and it would be cheaper to replace the fridge than to fix it.let me know if you get this message
did you get my messages?
I bought a new starting relay and did not help.
Hello,
I just stumbled on these messages. I think every time you replied, they sent me an email, and I clicked on the link. It would take me to a page without your recent posts. I thought you stopped writing because of the less than warm review. I appreciate your help. If I can change the review, I will, if you let me know how to do it.
As it stands, nothing I did could diagnose anything except a bad compressor, so we're kicking the unit to the street.
Thanks Again,
Kupgas
that's ok about the review,i was mad because a tech told you to jump out the timer when all you had to do was turn the knob with a screw driver to take it out of defrost but when it's typed out sometimes it's hard to know how to take it but it had nothing to do with you, unfortunitly it is the compressor and i'm sorry you didn't get my messages before you bought the new start device.good luck with your new fridge
