Lid Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.
Main Control Board If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Timer If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

My frigidaire dishwasher works intermittently. It'll completely stop mid -cycle, as if the power was shut off - then eventually indicate a power failure on the display. Then it wil work fine for a c

Hello Tom Weiss, There are a couple of things to check.
1. Check connection at the dishwasher. It is possible that the wire nuts came lose. Re-tighten and wrap with electrical tape to secure.
2. Check for a small leak from sink or faucet this has also been the culpret before.

My maytag washer (about 4 yrs old) quits during rinsing cycle. I took the top off where the wires are to see what I could see. ;) The "buzzer non-adjust" zapped me when I touched it. Could this be what...

any time you touch live wires you will get an electric shock
always make sure you turn your power off before making any repairs.
more than likly the answer to your question is no that is not the reason why your washer stops mid cycle
it would either ne your lid switch causeing this and or if you can manually advance your timer to the next step. it is your timer that is failing.
please be careful

Unit is dead: does not appear to have power

Hello chicagogunn,
Welcome,

You said,Your unit stopped working mid-cycle. You have verified that there is power to unit. Is there an internal fuse which could have been tripped? None of the lights on the control panel currently light.

There is a thermal fuse!
Go to this repair web site I listed below and you will see the diagram
1. Diagram Page 02 - CONTROL PANEL PARTS
2. The thermal fuse is, Item # 6 on the diagram.
3. Click on page two on the left at this site.
4. And then in the upper right corner it says Open This Diagram in a New Window

Let me know how you do!!

Please remember to leave a rating!!!!

ALSO:
Here are four things that the repair manual says to check.
1.
Burnt or broken wires
Check for burnt or broken wires. This would include the wires on the timer and door switch. Also check the wiring connection where the main power connects to the machine.

2. Defective Timer
The timer is a series of switches that controls all machine functions. If one of the contacts in the timer is defective, the machine will lose that function. knowledge of the the use of a volt /ohmmeter is essential to testing the timer as well as the ability to read the timer sequence chart that is supplied with the machine. In most cases this requires a professional technician

3.Door switch
The door switch is wired in series with all components on the machine. If the door switch is defective, the machine will do nothing. Check the door switch for continuity

4.No Electrical power

Ensure that the proper voltage is being supplied to the appliance. Check the breakers or fuses that are supplying the power to the appliance electrical outlet. You can use a voltmeter to test for voltage at the electrical outlet.

Thank you Huuum
