Question about Computers & Internet

2 Answers

I have a TOSHIBA Satellite A660 and occasionally, from the bottom right hand corner, (under the number pad), there'll be this 'clicking noise'. It kind of sounds like something sliding and then clicking into place. I just wanted some clarification on what to do, because I've heard that this noise is a tell-tale sign that the hard drive is going to fail.

Check to make sure its not a cd rom in the drive. Also check if it is a fan that is blocked. However if it is not ether it is most likely a dieing drive. I would recomend getting a external usb drive and backing up any data you may need. DO NOT TURN OFF THE PC because when they start clicking they may never come back any you will lose everything. In addition you can replace the hard drive however when you do you will have to reinstall windows and setup any drivers you need.

This is not uncommon to hear and usually nothing to worry about, but for piece of mind you can purchase an external hard drive to back up your files.

The right side of my touch pad control button has stopped working

Did you check the settings for the left and right buttons under the mouse properties. Normally the left should be set on Click and the right should be set on Shortcut. If it's set to NONE then it will be inoperable. Better yet you can click the Default tab for buttons. Otherwise, it sounds like your touch pad needs to be replaced. The immediate remedy to this is to just go purchase a USB mouse and voila, you'll have the ability to left and right click.

hello friend,
I THINK THE PROBLEM IS FROM THE MOUSE PAD, I THINK IS EITHER YOUR HAND IS WET OR SOME LITTLE WATER POURED ON IT, IF NOT, THEN IT IS DEVELOPING SOME FAULTS THAT I THINK MAY TAKE SOME TIME. PLEASE IF YOU CAN LOOK FOR AN EXTERNAL MOUSE TO USE FOR THE MINE TIME NOW AND AVOID TOUCHING THE MOUSE PAD FOR SOME TIME THEN I THINK IT WILL COME BACK TO NORMAL LATTER.

I'm not sure what model you have I do not see a A660/07T.

The arrow dosnot move (M105-s3041)

Lol. This happened to me about 6 months ago, Toshiba has a program called 'TouchPad' Utillity. Which basically enables you to turn ON/OFF the mouse pad, It's shipped with the operating system, Unfortunately if you do turn it off, The mouse pad won't respond and there is no way you can turn it back on, It took my 12 hours to figure this out,It was frustrating, You will need a mouse, Preferably a USB one, plug this in and go to your icon bar in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop screen and there should be an icon saying 'TOUCHPAD', Right click it, Go up and turn it back on, Then you will be back in business:)

Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 will not boot up...

Take out the hard drive completely and then see if you hear the clicking noise, if you do then that means the hard drive is bad. Also if it goes right to another message and you don't see the blinking cursor then that also verifies that the hard drive was bad and causing the system to hang.
