Run a driver check on your system by clicking run through the start button and type dxdiag to check if your touch pad driver is still available or working. If it shows it is working, troubleshoot your system. If not, you can get a the driver by surfing via google or you can rerun your window. Also, you can get a better antivirus like avast.

The I/O (Input/Output) error is indicating a hardware fault with your HDD or the communication to it.
It could also be triggered by external storage devices. If you have nothing else plugged into the laptop (such as a USB thumb drive) then your main HDD is likely defective. If the laptop is new, contact your place of purchase, or Acer, for warranty repair.
