It is a Mitsubishi 1080p LCD. The television is approximately 4 yrs old (no warranty). I started counting dots since last Friday, so we're talking about one new dot a day. Okay...I recounted, we're at 9 dots now. Is it repairable? When you say tap on the pixel, do you mean on the screen?

    Thanks,

    Yvonne

What is the make and model of the tv? Also how long have you owned the tv? Once I have that information I can assist you further. Sometimes a defective panel could cause this although 8 dead pixels is not a ton but if it keeps on increasing then it is cause for concern. If it is under warranty then this should be covered for replacement. Usually when they are white, that means they are "stuck" pixels rather then dead. You could try tapping on the pixel start softer and go a little harder. If it is under warranty I would not do anything but contact the manufacturer immediately.
Thank you,
Lee

yes I mean tap on the screen. Really there isn't too much you can do besides that and it most likely isn't going to be worth the cost of repair either. Do you have the model number?
    Thank you,

This is actually a fairly common problem. This is a DLP projection tv. Your DMD is failing it is a largish chip that has more than 2 million little moving mirrors on it. Some of these mirrors are getting stuck. It is going to get worse as more of the mirrors fail. Being that the DMD is part of the light engine you would have to replace the light engine. There are refurbished ones on ebay for 400$.

Cracked screen & white dots appearing since the crack appeared

I have a Mitsubishi TV and had the same problem. There is a mirror that moves to control each pixel. When some of them fail to move you get the white dots. Google your problem and a company will come up(sorry forgot the name).,you can buy the new part from them and they have exact utube videos to help you do the repair. Took me about an hour. Part was around $150. Very rewarding feeling when you turn the tv back on with no white dots.Still dot free after two years

Its a DLP so if white dots have started to appear and or increase in number the problem is in the optical light engine this set uses.

Ecently a small dull black dot has started appearing on my canon power shot A630's lcd screen but when I review the pics taken prior to when I noticed this problem, no dot appears.

1) this is indicative the lcd camera has been faulty.
2) you must replace it.
3) contact your company supplier, and get the parts, you can do it yourself, only need small screwdrivers and common sense.
God bless you

That is LCD panel problem, you can try reseating the ribbon cable between the logic board and the LCD panel just to see if it will come an go. Also check all the electrolytic caps.

Problem with LCD

Indeed offered solution is most likely correct. However I can suggest you to ensure if dots/lines appear even before windows screen comes. If yes thats the conclusion that your LCD Module has dead pixels or internal connectors has connectivity issue. Consult a local Hands on technician. LCD module might be costly you can always use an external monitor with your laptop.
Good luck. Happy new year.
