I tried to put my Saeco Vienna Deluxe coffee maker back in service after having it in storage for the last year. It was working fine before I stored it. Now I cannot get water to flow through the steam wand. I tried recommended tricks to prime it, but I cannot force water into hole beneath tank.

I cannot introduce any cleaning agents into the water intake, since it will not allow me to push water into it.

I'm all for descaling this machine, in fact, that was my first priority, but how can I do that when it won't receive any water from the water tank? I can hear the pump, but no water goes in from the tank or comes out from the wand.

Hi, m_wright52,

When you store your machine for an extended time, water completely evaporates leaving calcium buildup in all areas. I would recommend descaling at least twice to remove the calcium.

If you need a good descaler, try www.partsguru.com.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

If you're up to taking it apart and manually cleaning it, here is a webpage that has a parts breakdown so you can take it apart: >>>>http://www.cerinicoffee.com/custompages/... <<<<
Copy and paste the address in your browser and the diagram will open up for you.

Start at the water tank and clean tubes and valves from the tank outwards to the machine. During storage the O-rings probably dried up and lost their resiliency. So, while you have the machine apart, wipe a dab of vegetable oil on them to help them seal when your are reassembling your machine.

If, after cleaning, it still does not function, I would take or send it to a repair shop. A valve may need replacing, although I can't figure why a valve would go bad in storage.....

This is why I believe their is probably just a blockage somewhere in the water line.

If you don't have somewhere to repair it close by, you can send it to www.partsguru.com.

Maybe there is build up inside that is preventing it from going further? Have you tried cleaning the unit with something like lime away or vinegar? If it seems to be operating normal besides the water not flowing through the steam wand, then build up is the only thing that I can think of that would cause this.

How do you go about "descaleing" the coffee maker? The water does not flow through the coffee capsule very well.

I know that most grocery stores sell a "cleaner" or two next to their coffee filters/coffee makers/kitchen appliances section. These are usually heavily acidic, and will do a great job of cleaining your coffee maker. I've always been wary of acid in my coffee though, so I just use white vinegar. It'll do a decent job of cleaning out the coffee maker. Run a 1:1 mix of water and vinegar through your coffee maker, drain it, then run water through at least twice.

Scaleing/deposits building up in a coffee maker are signs of imperfections in the water. All tap water has it, but if you don't want to worry about it, use bottled or filtred water in your coffee pot. Plus, your coffee will taste better!

This is to do with an error in the warming plate function. You may be able to cure this error by completely unplugging the coffee maker from the mains lead and then plugging it back in and trying to brew. If this does not help I would suggest trying to contact the manufacturer to see if it is still under warranty.

Hope this helps and thank you for usinf FixYa
