I have a vaio PCG-61313L, i replaced the screen because it was broken, when i test the new screen, i got no backlight, i try to replace it with the old one but got the same problem, backlight was gone. please help.

1. First of all if your sony vaio is still under warranty better to bring to the store where you purchase it and ask for assistance. Most probably they will replace it with a new one or they will coordinate with sony to have it fix for free

2. Another option is to contact sony vaio tech support because they are the only one who can perform series of tests to isolate the problem and give you the right solution for your vaio

Hello,

The problem is not with the screen. If you turn on your laptop in a dark room and you put a flashlight on your screen, you will get a very faint display. The problem seems to lying with the inverter.

The inverter is a electrical device which 'backlits' the LCD and gives the display. Without the inverter and the bulbs it powers, the screen would be too faint to be seen.

To test if the inverter is defective, just turn on your laptop in a dark space, then put a flashlight on the screen to see if you have a fainted display. If you can see something, it is the inverter which is defective and should be replaced.

If you are handy, you can also remove the screen cover to see if there is a neon like light which lits up behind the LCD. If you can see the light, it means that the inverter is just working fine and that the is with the LCD itself.

Replacing the inverter:

1. After removing the screen 'cover', locate a small circuit board (usually below the LCD). Unplug the electrical cables and replace.

In your case, as the LCD has been replaced, check if the cables are well connected to both ends of the inverter. If the cables are well connected, consider replacing the inverter.

I believe you have an LED screen which does not require a CCFL bulb to enable the backlight - the reason it doesn't have a place to plug in. Make sure you have ordered the correct screen. Verify exactly which type of screen you need by checking with Sony.

Sony pcg-71912L backlight problem


There are a couple of things that can be causing this, For starters it may just be as simple as unplugging the screen from the motherboard and plugging it back in. the other one would be to replace the screen you can find several screens online for this laptop. You may want to test to make sure it is the screen and not the laptop its self. To test it you will need an external monitor and then attach it to the VGA/DVI/HDMI port on the laptop and then turn the laptop off and then back on again, right after you press the power button to turn it on close the lid this will force the laptop to send video to the external monitor.


If you can see the screen then all you will need to do is replace the screen, If you get NO picture on the external monitor you may want to take it to a computer shop. More than likely if don't get a picture on an external monitor then the issue is the motherboard/ram stick.

I bought a new screen for my Sony Vaio pcg-71912L, but when i changed and i tried to turn on, the screen never turn on, i put back my old screen and it doesnt work either? somebody can help pls


The only thing left is the inverter board located just below the screen and is a common issue with a black screen, the inverter board drives the backlight behind the display.

SONY VAIO PCG FRV27 I power on the laptop and the screen shows up but its very dark i adjusted contrast but it is not very visible


Diagnosis:
1. Test using an external monitor. If it works, then either the screen bulb or the inverter board might be defective.
2. Test the inverter. Easiest way to do it if you have a good screen with a good bulb. Connect the good screen to the inverter board & test it. If it lights up, then the inverter board is good. If it did not, then the inverter board is bad & needs to be replaced.
3. If the inverter board is good, then we are left with the possibility that the screen bulb is bad. To fix this, we will need to replace the LCD screen

My screen died on my Sony PCG-K25, but It works fine if I plug in a monitor


either your inverter went bad or your backlight did use a light and shine it down the screen at an angle if you can see anything then it's the ccfl(s) if it's totally black then it's probably the inverter which is better because it's easier to replace and costs about $15-$20 the ccfls go for around $15 but there are usually 2 and you have to dismantle the lcd and solder them to wires to replace them

Cant see anything on my sony vaio pcg-72dl screen its just blank


Your backlighting may be out.

Try shining a flashlight onto the screen with the lights off in the room.

If you can vaguely see your desktop on the screen, then your backlighting is out.

Do you mean clean inside the LCD itself?? did it get water in it??

Not a fun thing to take apart an LCD and hard to reassemble as well. If you break the circuit boards while taking it apart you have to buy a new LCD.
