How can I get a recovery cd so I can just format it and load windows and the correct drivers without the hassle for me? I wouls buy the disks needed or pay shipping (I kinda bought them once) even just vista wont give me the drivers. Help please!

For that model you should trigger the eRecovery event by pressing Alt + F10, on the Acer screen, the default password is 000000 (Six zeros) then follow the instructions and you should be fine.
Waqrning: the eRecovery process will leave the computer at factory settings, you'll loose all documents, videos and music and all the software you installed, you'll get a clean windows Vista Install, so back up if needed.

Hello,

Since the laptop didn't come with recovery, then it is advice-able that you purchase an original windows vista CD.

The drivers won't be a problem because you can download all the drivers needed from acer's website.

Also, you might be install the windows and all the drivers could install and if it doesn't performing windows update can also automatically install the drivers.

But in case the drivers does install, follow the below procedures to download the drivers from Acer;

http://www.acer.com/worldwide/selection.html

Select your region and click Go.

Point your mouse on 'Support', Drivers and Downloads will be highlighted, click Drivers and downloads.

Select Product family which is 'Note-book'

Under product line select 'Aspire"

Select product model which is 5315

Now look below the page and you will find all your drivers.

You can begin to download them one after the other.

Under application, you will find web-cam drivers

Under document, you will find user guide.

I hope found the above helpful.

Regards.

You might be able to get a recovery CD from the manufacturer instead of where you bought the computer. For E-Machines you can go to https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=eMachines and enter the serial number of your unit to get information on ordering recovery media. The recovery cd will have a factory image of the hard drive on it eliminating the need for an actual Vista CD.

How to restore dell vostro 430 to its factory settings? or how to get its recovery DVD?

You can go to Dell their web site and purchase a recovery DVD or CD for your model. Or you can purchase a copy of Win 7 or XP and reload your computer make sure that you have the BIOS first boot to boot to CD or DVD ROM first boot. Just to to the setup option when booting for boot order. Set it there. Now that you have done this insert the Windows XP or Vista or Win 7 whichever you have and it will go from there. Be sure to do a full install it will format your drive and make sure that you are online. So in essence you do not need recovery discs to do this just Windows Operating System Disc is all that is needed.
You will also have to possibly download drivers if you purchase Win 7 most of the drivers are downloaded for you if you are online during the during the installation. This is what I do to deviate all the junk software that comes from the factory to sell me things or things I do not need. Just a suggestion. I hope this assisted you. John

Be carefull with recovery cd's

Reinstall win vist on acer aspire 5100

Hey,

you will have to use the windows vista installation dvd or the restore media that came with the computer at purchase, if you don't have either.

You will need to borrow or buy the cd/dvd's.

Contact acer to order new recovery cd's.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

NTLDR missing

In XP, you can load your XP cd and do a repair:
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your applications, it just re-installs the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.

In Vista , it is tricky. Let me know.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Lost restore dvd supplied with computer.have no choice but to restore

On eMacines, the recovery partition contains your driver and software. But you needed to create the recovery cd set when you got your computer.
To restore it,if your computer came with XP, borrow an Win XP cd (cannot be a HP,Dell etc).
Try a repair first:
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your applications, it just reinstall the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.
If a repair does not work, do a complete install.

Usually when you purchase a new pc with the operating system installed, they put a sticker on the machine with the CD key on it. You may have the XP key sticker on the machine. Good luck.
