I have an Acer Aspire SA8-2970 PC with a virus.

It may well be some form of virus or spyware.

It may also be that you have too many applications running at once eg. lots of toolbars and instant message typ programs.

It can also happen on graphic intensive applications.

You should rule out nasty stuff first.

MBAM !

for a free one its pretty darned good !

From a CLEAN computer download and put on a flash drive.

Copy to your DESKTOP on the suspec computer.

Run it but dont change any options just use what it offers.

When its done let it clean anything it finds.

Its where I always start with an infected machine.

As for antivirus AVOID Norton or Mcafee but try the AVG FREE version MBAM should clean up without buying

Only continued use would require purchase As for too many applications that would be up to you to decide what you REALLY need and dont. Most toolbars are a waste of both time and space and can hog computers down. Maybe a good clean up is in order ?

It may just be a "leaking application"

These are badly coded programs that dont release memory when they should and just keep taking more to do the same job.

May I suggest you download
"hijackthis"

It is a program that can make a report on what you have running in such a way that you can post that information to certain sites and experts there will look at it.

They will then give you reccomendations as to how you can remove programs or fix some issues that may be upsetting your computer.

Dont post the log here but follow the nstructions and help the program offers to send it to one of the sites it will offer you.

If you understand startup lists you may even be able to spot som things yourself that you dont want to run and disable them from hijack this.

Computer has viruses which might be why it has a the blue screen

Try entering safe mode and doing the virus scan:
  • Switch on your PC
  • Before the Windows Logo screen appears press F8 to get the startup options menu
  • Chose Safe Mode
  • Once your computer boots, run AVG and let it remove all the viruses. Reboot and it should go into Windows as normal. You might have to rerun the scan a few times to get rid of everything but it should do the job.

My ibm netvista 6270 reboot evry time !! my mothercard is ms 6188 pIII 64 Mo

There could be several things wrong but with the information provided, I am going to say that you have a virus and/or spyware. Run a complete scan on system with both antivirus and spyware remover. Rid of all spyware. If you have Limewire, delete it and reboot. This should stop the computer from rebooting.

My computer crashes or freezes a lot

It might be a virus.
Probably Lsass virus. This virus can get into your computer and really cause havoc with your network connections and also deny you access to certain internet sites.
You need a Lsass removal tool.
try to go here http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050114-1706-99
and download the tool, and follow the instructions.
good luck

I keep getting a security alert that says I have 4 virus

That security alert is most likely one of the false positives that are running around the internet.
They tell you that you have a virus and then want you to pay them to get rid of it where in actual fact the only virus you have is them.
Try downloading, installing and running "malwarebytes" I have used this application many times to rid machines of the nonsense you are seeing.

Restoring Dell computer

The best thing for you to do is to recover your computer back to the way it wasy when you purchased it. Warning, you will lose all data you have on your computer so you need to make sure you have a backup. You need to boot off of the operating system cd that came with your Dell. Once that's loaded, then you need to run the cd that says applications and drivers, and follow the instructions for your computer that comes onscreen.

Virus on my computer help!

Hi,

Don't worry, trojan.adclicker is not a serious threat, only some spyware which is not anywhere near as malicious as a virus. There are two things you can do to get rid of it though..

1) Follow these instructions (They are long winded but will work)
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2002-091214-5754-99&tabid=3

2) Download Spybot S&D. This is a really good bit of software that should get rid of it much more easily for you, and will probably get rid of other similar stuff on your pc. Follow the link below and then install the program, then scan the system, then fix problems.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

I would recommend trying option 2 first, it will be less hassle.

Hope this was helpful
