Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

The vacuum is not sucking from the brush. There's suction at top from the small vent but not through the tupe to the brush.

Hi! My Dyson DC17 starts fine and then, within a second, gets very loud with an extra sucking noise.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC17 includes a suction relief valve. This allows extra airflow into the vacuum to protect the motor if the machine is used when blocked. If you've already washed the pre-motor filter and checked all the ducts for blockages, it's possible there's an issue with your machine's cyclone pack which has caused it to block.

We'd appreciate the opportunity to help you check for this - please do not continue to use your machine in the meantime as this may cause damage. When you have your DC17 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

My dyson hose sucks good but, when i put handle down, it won't **** but brush does turn

I just had the same problem....suction from wand, but no suction from soleplate, the brush bar spins. Did all the troubleshooting steps on dyson.com but they didn't work...dyson.com says need to take to repairman, being a diyer I went to search engine. I didn't find a fix, however I found one myself....it appears the vac can get stuck in floor mode or in between modes....the dial on top on dc07 ....selector of floor or carpet..try pushing it back and forth to see if that puts it in carpet mode...check for suction or try vacuuming...if that doesn't work, looking at vac from behind vac on the right hand side is the selector dial..on top of bottom portion of vac.....with vac in upright position, recline it as if about to vacuumn floor...look down at selector area ...you should be able to see a rectangular type button exposed ..push this to reset position...you may have to push it a few times...then try vacuumniing.....I finally had suction from soleplate!! Another tipoff to this problem is my selector dial would not stay in place would pop I to carpet by itself, but only halfway....fro a long time my vac would work but not very well...had to go over same area.4-5 times..What a workout! The first time I contacted dyson via tele the rep had me remove some stuff and I was able to look at area below selector...what I saw was two holes, one hole was only over the other hole half way...hence at that time I had only part suction since holes were not aligning properly....I read somewhere as a further tip to get suction to engage, while vac is reclined step on front edge of vac head it said you'll get more suction that way, I haven't tried that, but thought it may help someone

Debris is not going in to the canister and the wand is constantly suctioning even when not in use

It sounds like The undercarrage assembly needs replacing on your machine..

If you stand behine the machine and look at the undercarrage you will see a small arm on the extream left hand side that extends from the same part that holds the back wheels.
On the end of this arm thier should be a small knob that turns the internal valve from hose to floor suction. if it is broken it won\'t change over and will either suck only thru the wand or the brush bar depending on when it broke

Bellow are two pics the one of a new undercarrage assembly ( top one)Screw driver pointing knob out
the bottom one withthe knob missing index.php?action=dlattach;topic=388.0;attach=299;image

Look for blockage carefully as the unit does not know which you have attached.

Brushes will not spin

There is a motor for the brushes, it may be bad. If no suction, there is a gasket on top of the back cover that may be missing leaving a gap and losing suction.

Dirt devil mvp not sucking

Could be bad filters, is there suction at the end of the hose. That will tell you which direction to start looking. If no suction at hose end, then filters could be the problem. If you have suction, then the problem is down lower, dirt inlet is clogged, if belt has never been changed, then I am sure it has stretch to the point that under load it doesn't turn like it should. Could even be that although the motor is running, it may be running at a slower speed, in which case it would have to be replaced.

My dirt devil vacuum won't suck up anything and its brand new!!

Take the vac bag off and turn on the vac , it should blow air out, if not unclogg the hose where the bag connects, also when you check the roller and belt, unclog the flex hose(located inside base near roller assembly) that sucks up the dirt. As long as the motor works fine the rest is just maint.
