SOURCE: Digital camera switches on and then off very quickly

I too am experiencing the same problem with this model. Have you found a solution? I think it could be a firmware problem, but I can not find a update download.

I have a second of two 530 models. The first was replaced under warranty as the battery low came on with fresh AA batteries, but would work OK with the more expensive CRV3s. No change with the brand new replacement. I just use the CRV3s. As a side note, both the store I bought it from and the local "Batteries Plus" store told me there was no charger available for the CRV3 batteries. They lied. Many are available cheap on a simple Google search. Hope this helps.

I thought batteries were low. Replaced. Camera will not "boot up". The power lite comes on. It , however, immediately goes off. I replaced batteries 3 times, but now the lens will not retract...

Check to be sure you have put the batteries in correctly. Sometimes with wear, you may have to reinsert them. Also, depending on where you got your batteries, such as a bargain place or a discount store, the batteres may not be good or good enough. Digital cameras take a stronger battery than most cameras.

My olympus x-43 camera is only powering up for a few seconds even thought i put brand new batteries in it. also it makes a buzzing noice when the lens shuts and also the lens only goes in a little bit

Are you using Lithium Batterys? If not, this maybe the problem due to the Digital camera using alot of power. They are expensive but worth it in the long run and last a long while.

With new batteries already put in--no power

Are you using rechargeable batteries, and have tried lots of different batteries? Also, sometimes rechargeable batteries fresh out of the package can be dead or have very little juice. Just a thought...Hard to say that's it though if you were having the same thing happen before...

Camera won't turn on

Either your camera board is dead, or you are not using the right batteries. There are 2 types of AA batteries on the market today. One type is the normal 1.5V batteries. The other is the special lithium batteries that run a slightly higher voltage, usually about 2V. Many camera owners do not know this fact.

Change batteries message

Are you using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in today's digital camera. Some brands may have reached their shelf-life in the store, and may have problems just powering startup of the camera right out of the package.

Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. These days many retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many, many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Zoom Error

We had this problem for about 2 weeks, we discovered that having the camera auto retracted after the "ZOOM ERROR" message, giving the camera couples of light slaps (slap the camera's LCD side and aim the camera down), this fixed the camera right away

No power

Gee, hang on I'll get my crystal ball out :-) I'm afraid it's impossible to say. It could be anything from a dirty battery connection to a full blown power board meltdown. Without having it on the bench it's impossible to say. Try the uwsual silly stuff, make sure the batteries are inserted the right way, make sure they're fully charged, make sure the battery ends are clean, make sure the battery connections in the camera are clean. Try your power supply instead of the batteries, Try a different set of batteries. Next stop, your friendly repair man.
