WANT TO INSTALL WIN SERVER O/S IN COMPAQ LAPTOP CQ40-317TU

It all depends on your system specifications.
If you are thinking of installing Windows Server 2003,then try to make sure that your system meets the following minimum system requirements: 128MB RAM and a 600MHz processor, and I recommend 5Gig HDD Free space.
But if it is Windows 2008 Server, then think of having this : 512MB of Ram, 10Gig of HDD free space, and an x86 processor with minimum speed of 1Ghz, or an x64 processor with minimum speed of 1.4Ghz.
Hope this helps you out .
Goodluck!

Unable to install XP in CQ60-104tu compaq Presario

You may find that if you insert a blank CD instead of DVD you have more luck (the image you have created is a CD image not a DVD image). Another tip is that you should not copy the ISO image to CD but using Nero burn image to disk. Let me know if you need more help.

Vista to xp on hp dv7 1175nr

I apologize and I hate to be the one to tell you this but especially with HP Laptops (considering the fact I have a HP Pavilion DV 9535 w/ Vista Home Premium) I asked a HP representative if i could downgrade to Windows XP and the HP representative had told me this they're are driver's out there but you need to go threw each and every manufactor manually and find the driver for each product with your computer, because HP and Microsoft are not going to support it anymore. They are supportive of Windows Vista Operating systems now, and I am always honest and really all they want is your money. If you want I can get together with you over via phone and assist you with finding the driver's you may call my office at 1-978-878-0014 Ext. 182 and I will be more than happy to assist you with this. Is there anything else you need help with?

Changing from windows vista to windows xp

i think you need to make a os by yourself by using a software called nlite where it allow to put your hard drive driver. you can download your hard drive driver from your laptop company website. nowadays windows xp is unable to detect new hard drive like your case.
after you download the lastest version of nlite. its simple to make a custom os.
before you start the running nlite :-
1. you need to copy all files of wndows xp in a drive.
2. when you run nlite program, it will asked you the source -> just navigates to the place where you paste the xp files.
next steps are easy as they are user friendly

Cannot install Windows XP,Vista on Compaq Laptop(FreeDos) V3607TU.

I have two solutions for this problem. the first one is to change the bios settings. the solution is here:  http://techrena.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-install-your-own-wndows-xp-in-hp.html
but for some laptops this setting is not available. so you can try another solution i.e. integrate the SATA drivers in your windows XP cd. this solution is here: http://techrena.blogspot.com/2009/01/integrate-your-own-drivers-or.html

The original Windows XP Installation CD, a freeware application named NLite and a blank CD.
we need the drivers for the SATA controller provided by the manufacturer.

When you start the Nlite application, you will be asked to provide the location for the Windows installation package. Insert the genuine Windows Installation CD into the CD drive and, inside the application, select the CD drive letter.
To insert the SATA drivers within the installation package, you need to have it saved on the HDD. Hence, when the warning window appears click OK and select the destination folder for the files to be saved. Make sure that the destination partition / HDD has enough space to store the contents of the installation CD.

Immediately after you have chosen the destination folder, the application will start copying the Windows installation files. When finished, it will display some version information regarding the newly copied Windows Installation Package.
Now, click next twice until you get to a screen where you get options sorted in 4 categories: Integrate, Remove, Setup, Create. We are interested in the integration procedure, therefore select the Drivers button and click next. From the next menu window, click Import and select multiple drive folder option from the drop down menu. This option permits you to browse to the location where the downloaded drivers are found.
Select the containing directory and click next. You will get a list with the available drivers (in case there are more than one) or simply one driver. Select it (them) and click next. Now the application will ask for the permission to start the integration procedure. Choose Yes and wait for the drivers to be inserted into the installation package.
With problematic driver being included in the installation package you can install Windows XP on your SATA HDD...but...the installation package is on the HDD. You need a bootable CD in order to start an installation. Don't worry, once the installation package has been adorned with additional user selected drivers it can be transformed into a bootable disk image and later burned on a CD. To encapsulate the installation into a ISO image use the same Nlite application.
Open it, make sure the HDD installation folder is selected and click next. Select "Last session" preset and click next again. Now from the options menu choose Bootable ISO and click next. In the following window, make sure that the mode is set to "Create Image" and click Make ISO. A destination folder is required where the resulting ISO image will be saved. Once the image saving process finished you have the freedom to burn it on a blank CD with whatever you favorite CD burner software may be.

The new CD will be the twin copy of the Windows Installation CD but with one difference, it includes the SATA driver

I have never used this utility but Bootdisk.com has a solid reputation, for $4 US get access to his special utilities.
FResh XP install With SATA ---- SATA1 fresh install of XP using WIN98 and SATA drivers Seems like it will install XP with SATA drivers and then you can see your hard drive.
