Question about Intuit QuickBooks Pro 2008: Windows

1 Answer

I have Quickbooks Pro 2008. I had upgraded from Quicken, where I had 2 companies each with separate bank accounts. How do I separate out the companies in QBks and preserve the history since incorporation in 2005? How do I separate out my personal accts? I had searched one other time and found an accountant in TX who had software to fix this issue, but I lost the data.

Hi, I may be able to assist you here. If I remember my accounting procedures
Your quickbooks has 4 companies set up, you want to know if you can take money from one companies account and put it inmto another company account? Personally I have not USED Quickbooks but I have used other accounting software.. You will want to post a debit from account 1 to company 2 then for company 2 you will want to post a receipt from companyt 1 as a deposit into company 2 account.. Normally a range of numbers such as 1XXX may be used as receipts 2XXX may be used as debits..etc etc .. 4XXX accounts payable 5XXX accounts receivable as long as both accounts are kept in balance you shoiuldn't have too much difficulty I presume that your quickbooks uses the online banking for both companies?
    I hope this helps

Quickbooks Premier 2008 will not open quickbooks 2008 Pro files. What's up?

PLEASE REMEMBER THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY PROBLEM IN OPENING A QB PRO 2008 COMPANY FILE IN PREMIER 2008. THERE SHOULD BE SOME OTHER REASON TO IT .

If you need the resolution, please reply with the foll :

    1. Which Windows Version you have . Is it Win XP or Vista or 7?
    2. How do you try to open the company file ? Please list the steps .
    3. Do you get any erro msg ?
    4. Does QB crash?
    5. Do you have a backup company file QBB or main company file QBW ?

Please try these steps or reply to my questions:

    1. Change the location of the company file.
    2. Disable UAC.
    2. Rename the company file .
    3. Delete the ND and TLG file .

Upgrading from Quickbooks Pro 2003 to Quickbooks 2009

I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version. I can help you with that if you need it

Quickbooks Pro-restoring a back up from a previous version 2005

If is any help - we have just had the same problem.......had version 5 (very old) of QB
changed computer to Vista and would not work so had to buy Pro 208 for Vista . We really had to get in touch with Quickbooks - they send you a free upgrade kit (disc which is Pro 2006 version (not a fuull version but enogh to get the data over) then you load that on your old machine transfer your data to that then copy that again - then load into Pro 2008 - worked fine for us - have come across a hiccup with VAT - but however I guess we are going to have to give in and phone them after the Bank holiday........apart from that everything was fine.

be brave and phone 'em - tech support was helpful.
