MS Outlook won't send e-mail. Messages get stuck in outbox.

You sent 2 different solutions called Solution #1. I'm not impressed. First solution, involving closing and opening the software, resending the message, clicking send / receive, and checking the address, are all things I have tried and sometimes they work but the problem keeps coming back.
The other solution - tools>accounts> etc - doesn't seem to match the menus on my software. I have an item called "E-mail Accounts" but I don't see anything called "Account Properties".
    So far I'm not satisfied.
In the meantime I received a message from aol - the server for the e-mail recipient - saying in essence "Message Returned - Mailbox Full". Could this be the source of my difficulty?

Do you get a error message? double check your account settings, some minor details may be wrong.

actually its pretty simple. Heres the solution I sent you in the other post.

Tools -> accounts -> select account and click on properties -> in account properties click on servers tab, and enable the outgoing my server requires authentication box

  • Ekse Aug 14, 2008

It looks a little diffrent in your program, In any case you need to go into the E-mail accounts, select your account from the email accounts, click properties on the account. find the servers tab, and enable the outgoing mail server authentication. its not exactly like that but very similiar to that direction.

The mailbox message, the email you are sending the message to is full of email and can't receave any more.

  • Ekse Aug 14, 2008

the solution is based on the error code you sent me

"MS Outlook won't send message. Mesage gets hung up in Outbox. Error messaage
    (0x800CCC78)
    550 5.7.1 Authentication Reuired"

Hi,

Initially, pls check with your ISP if Port 25 is blocked. This is an ISP approach to effectively keep spam from originating from their services, however, it limits small office/home office Exchange server installs. This problem can be overcome in Exchange 2000, 2003 and Outlook as well.

If it is not blocked, then it is a configuration/settings in Outlook.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Did this just start happening after it was working correctly or did it never work?

Have you tried Outlook Express instead of MS outlook? That is the preferred email system

Hello, try to check any of these options

1. Try to closed the software and open in again
2. Copy the content to a new mail, and try to send it again, clear the outbox first
3. Click send/recived if the outlook got stuck.
4. check that you wrote the right adress in the adress bar

Microsoft Outlook Office E-mail program. I tried

Disconnect from the Internet, by either unplugging the Ethernet cable, or "disconnecting" your wireless connection. Open your E-mail, and ignore any "not connected" messages.
Select the 'outbox' folder. Select the "too large" item, and DELETE it.
Open your 'Trash' folder. Select the same item, and PERMANENTLY DELETE it.

Reconnect to the Internet.

In Outlook Express, it continues to send older messages each time you send an e-mail. It also does not include them in the Sent file. What can we do? I just ran a new version of Norton 360 2010. ...

delete the old failed messages out of the outbox.. delete ALL messages from the OUTBOX.. if they have failed previously or are too big they might sit there, then every time you go to send a new one or hit send/recieve to get new ones, it will try to send them again.

good luck

I sent an e-mail with about 30 photos. It still reads ''sending mail''. Cannot delete message from Outbox.

That is because it is taking a long time to send the photos. If you want to kill it off, you have a few options. First off, try to close Outlook. If it fails to close, then you can try to kill it off using Task Manager.

Now, this part is tricky. Once Outlook has closed, you want to get in and delete the message in the outbox FAST! So, try this. Start Outlook and immediately go to the Outbox, select the msg and delete it. If you dont do this fast enough, it will begin to transmit it and you will be stuck with the same problem.

If this does not work , you can try going in to your mail accounts (Control Panel) and disabling your accounts (basically dont give Outlook an account to send/receive from/to). Then delete the msg from your Outbox, then go back and re-enable the accounts.

Good luck

Windows XP ''Search'' utility disabled. Outlook problems.

Hi,

If you attempt to send a message that is too large for your mail server you may be unable to delete it from the Outbox.
First, try setting Outlook offline using the File, Offline menu. Wait about a minute or so or close Outlook and reopen.
If you are unable to delete the message while in offline mode or cannot go into offline mode, you'll need to change your default delivery location Try this, hope it will work for you.

Thanks

E Mail send problems

Initially all messages you send will go directly to the outbox first. Automatically though it should send after a while. Sometimes it could take up to an hour. If you want it to be sent at the exact moment, just press the "Send/Receive" button and that will shoot your mail from the outbox.
