Question about Bissell 6594 PowerForce Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

My Bissel powerforce 6596 has suction but the dirt is not making it into the dirt cup. If I shut it off, the dirt drops to the floor. Also the motor seems to be over heating. All filters are clean. I can't find any obstruction.

Just because you cant see the obstruction doesnt mean theres not one. The hose could be stopped up somewhere not visible to your eyes. I have one and I have to take hose off and apart to clean it out. check the roller. Is it rolling?

It's blowing dirt out the bottom/back

this is caused by a plugged up suction hose AND / OR a dirty filter.
clean the filter - and remove the bottom floor plate and clean out the hose where it bends down to the floor unit ( this is always where the dirt collects when the filter gets dirty and suction is low ).

The belt on my vacuum cleaner model 6596 bissel powerforce bagless turbo keeps breaking. As soon as I put on a new belt and start it up the belt snaps. It is the durabelt meant for this vacuum model....

I would guess you aren't centering the belt correctly, thus it's edge is caught between the brush and another solid object, causing the breakage.
When you get the belt on the the brush and the brush back in place, turn the brush a few times by hand to make sure it's not catching on anything. After you get the powerhead put back together, do this again. It's a common problem if the powerhead isn't assembled correctly.

Here's a video clip from the Bissell site demonstrating changing the belt.

My bissel vacume was not picking up the dirt on the carpet. So I found that the hose was clogged. I unclogged it but the vacume still is not picking up the dirt. I also changed the filters.

I found out that if you remove the front filter holder, tip vacuum back and look down inside. Sometimes there is hair caught back in there and you won't get suction. I had to use something long, knife, very long type tweezers, to pull all the hair out. Worked great after that. About half way through vacuuming I will stop and remove the foam rubber filter and clean it. Oh yea, you will have to use a flashlight to look down inside to see all the hair caught behind the foam rubber filter cup.

I recently cleaned all the filters in my Bissell powerforce, now instead of suction I get all blown back instead.

take all the filters out put the dirt cup back in then try it again.3 filters 1 on the bottom of the dirt cup and one above the dirt cup and one in front at the bottom behind the little door.if thats not it at the bottom on the right side you will see a clear hose thats your intake hose, one screw holds it on,take it out and bend a coat hanger so the tip is rounded ,then work it down into the clear hose ,you should be able to push the clog out through the bottom

Bissell 6596 bagless turbo - minimal suction & burning smell

You can reach the motor, however your motor is no longer in operable condition. This is what you hear when you turn it on. You must replace the motor for this to go away. Below is the motor part number if you would like to replace it. It will cost you about half the amount of the unit to replace.

Motor # 2032211

Bissel vacuum

take the dirt cup out and turn the bottom of it that will let you get to the filter, there should be some finger twist plates on the top, turn and take it out, there will be a foam cover around the filter, take that off and clean with warm warter, when done towel dry with paper towels, now the filter itself is water friendly ,take a brush and in up and down strokes ,clean while running water over it.above where the dirt cup goes is another filter ,just reach up inside and twist and it will come out, clean that also.now put the dirt cup back in without the filter and see if you have suction,i believe you will.let the filters dry before you put them back in then reassemble, and if that don't work, the take the hose off and see if you can blow through it .if thats not it then at the bottom on the right you will see a clear hose, thats your intake hose.there is a screw on the black fitting thats connected to it ,take it out and get you a coat hanger and bend the tip so its rounded ,thats so you don't puncture a hole in the intake hose.work the hanger down into the intake hose and push out the clog .then try it again..please leave feedback.i hope i was some help to you.iwould clean the foam filteres at least once a month

Loss of suction bissell vacume

that is normal for the vacume to shut off if the motor overheats you must keep teh dirt cup clean and empty and all the filters clean, when you empty the dirt cup if you have a lot of pet hair take the hose off and make sure that it is clean as well, and do not try to pick up any of those cleaning wipes that will stop it up real quick

Either the hose has a clog, or the inlet down by the belt is clogged. Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then it is clogged. If there is suction, then it has to be clogged down below by the brush roll, check that inlet. There also is a filter at the bottom where the dirt cup (and bag) is, check it also.
