Question about Samson Juicers

1 Answer

CARROTS ARE BACKING UP THE FEED SHUTE, CREATING JUICE IN THE SPOUT. PULP ISN'T COMING OUT THE END. IT IS BACKING UP BEFORE IT GOES THRU THE SCREEN RIB. THIS HAPPENS WITHIN 2 CARROTS BEING FED THRU. I HAVE CLEANED THE SCREEN RIB REPEATEDLY.

    The model is GB-9001
I've used the juicer for some time and don't stuff the chute with anything - anything too large I slice downt he middle. It's been juicing carrots & celery no worries for the last week. This back up the spout occurs within the first 2 carrots being put thru.

  • catherine652 May 20, 2011

I've been cutting up the carrots - it;s occured with celery, beetroot and ginger. When I disassemble the juicer to clean, there is coarse vegetable all around the green barrel that hasn't gone thru the screen rib

  • catherine652 May 20, 2011

I leave room on the sides and use the pusher to with just enough pressure to hold the carrot from jiggling all over the place. It still comes back up the chute

    Hi Andy

I think you've probably received my other comments in regards to not over stuffing the chute and cutting the carrots to fit. The Model is GB9001

    I appreciate your help

    thanks

    Catherine

I'll let you know how I get on Andie - I didn't realise the carrots should be going thru on '1' - I thought it was '3' for harder vegs/fruit.
    Thanks
    Catherine

All the help I got was constructive - although at first I thought I am doing all this and it isn't helping. I went back to basics and did cut the carrots smaller but the real help was putting the juicer on '1'. This fed them thru slowly and no backing up occurred. I am so pleased to be juicing again. Thanks Andie in particular

I found this comment on Jack LaLanne's juicer site. Thought it might be relevant here. >>>> Carrots can be a bit challenging to juice due to their dense nature and irregular shape.
Do not over stuff the chute. Leave some room on the sides to be able to maneuver the
carrots while juicing. They tend to bounce around in the chute. Use the pusher to guide
    them to the blade.

Don't know if that information will help in your situation, but give it a shot.
Are you cutting up the carrots first before feeding them through? It might help.

Do you have problems with any other fruit or vegetable?

    Thanks,

    Handie Andie

    Hi Catherine,

Been reading some troubleshooting tips from Samson.
They state that carrots should be halved and fed in allowing the auger to pull it in rather than using the pusher.
Also, the drum cap setting should be on 1 to allow more room inside the drum when putting through harder foods like carrots and beets.

I would give this a try, then if that does not work, call the customer service number in your owner's manual for repair.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

    Handie Andie

My juice is coming out with the pulp. The machine seems to be operating and sounding normal and this has never happened before. I have the omega 8005 model??

This usually is indication of pulp backing up in the machine make sure you are pre cutting the produce and also make sure the tensioner on the end is adjusted according tot he produce being used. Example: softer produce requires less tension where as leafy green vegetables you can increase the tensioner.

I acquired the JEX328KE juicer at a garage sale but didnt get the manual. is it possible to get one for it or to look at it online?

I also acquired this Kenmore juicer just today at a thrift store. It is virtually the identical juicer as the Waring Pro JEX328 Juice Extractor (only w/o the KE, for Kenmore). The manual can be found at the following link:

http://www.waringproducts.com/ret/share/man/12_man.pdf

When juicing carrots, you'll want to keep your eye on the pulp being produced. You may need to empty the pulp collector after 8 to 10 large carrots before proceeding. It's easy to clean, as well as very simple to assemble and disassemble.

Enjoy!

No overhaul. These juicers do not eject the pulp and are subject to vibration especially if you
install a new blade. I've had one for 21 years and get by using a worn blade which I sharpen
with an electric drill using a small bit.

This is the nature of the juicer, it does not eject the pulp, and they go out of balance very
easily especially with a new blade installed. Only suggestion is juice only hard produce,
and feed it as evenly and as slowly as possible. I juice apples, carrots and celery.

Yours and everyone else's. Best solution is to get a pulp ejecting type juicer.
I have a 21 year old Acme and know how to maintain and adjust it. Even
then I have vibration issues.

Can't find the manual and have forgotten how to take it apart to clean it

Most juicers have a retention rod or side snaps that hold the top of the juicer in place. By loosening these, it will allow you to get underneath the juicer cap top. Once you have done this, you will have to remove the juice/ pulp wheel blade. Your juicer should have come with a two pin tool that facilitates this. Use the tool to loosen the juice /pulp wheel blade. Once you have done this, you should be able to remove the outer juice capture rim with that has the spout on one end. I hope this helps. Good luck and happy juicing.

Shuts itself off when juicing

FIRST DUMP THE FILTERS, THEY DECREASE YIELD AND MAY CAUSE MORE VIBRATION.
IF JUICER SHUTS DOWN PUSH RESET BUTTON ON BOTTOM. THIS TYPE OF JUICER DOES
NOT EJECT PULP AND REQUIRES SOME TIME TO MASTER. FEED THE STUFF SLOW AND
STEADY. WANT A GOOD JUICE? TRY 1 APPLE, 2 CARROTS, 2 CELERY AND A HALF LEMON.
IF YOU ARE REALLY BRAVE YOU CAN FINISH OFF BY SLOWLY POURING 6 OR 8 OUNCERS
OF WATER RIGHT DOWN THE CHUTE. THIS NOT ONLY DILUTES BUT LEECHES MORE JUICE
OUT OF THE PULP. JUICE SHOULD BE DILUTED AND DRANK SLOWLY.

Pulp galore!

are you exceeding the capacity of the juicer? you will get about 2 and 1/2 large glasses of juice before the pulp fills the spinning basket. Apple peels are very tough, apples and tomatoes need to be peeled before juicing. Use the filters, the juice comes out much clearer and the juicer is easier to clean up. I so a lot of carrots, carrots are super food.
