Making a grinding sound

After I push start, the door locks but there is not the usual filling with water sound. Instead it sounds like a grinding like sound. I tried to unplug and reset but that did nothing. Please help!

Third repair for grinding noise...Remove top panel. Look to left rear..rotating arm that gets stuck. Give it a nudge, but do expect this to continue...part on order (back order) My machine is only two months old, but not used much because we went on vacation right after buying. Disappointed in this machine.

I HAD this same problem. Turns out there was part of a pen stuck in the pump. The technician left. Next load, same sound. Once the other part of the pen was removed from the pump, no more problem.

I had the same problem. Turns out there was part of a pen stuck in the pump. First load after the technician left, same problem. Once they remove the rest of the pen still in the pump, problem no longer exists.

Front load washer will not spin

Good Afternoon Kevin,

I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire washer not spinning and making a grinding sound as if something were stripped. I also see that changing out the door lock and switch assembly, did not help the issue.

I would suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose what is causing the grinding sound and better assist in resolving the grinding sound. Hope this helps.

-Best Regards-

sounds like the door lock mechanism. if this cannot signal it has engaged, to the board, no other function will work (you don't want the washer going with the door open, trust me :) )

I drive a '97 Honda Accord. Lately, my power locks have been making a loud, drawn out grinding sound when I lock them. What could be the cause of this?

The door lock actuator in the door that is making the sound is starting to fail. Replace the lock actuator for that door will help.

Are you using a liquid fabric softener ? If so , try using dryer sheets instead . Maytag is known for making liquid softener look like grease on clothes . After switching for a while , and still grease looking stains , then it is possible for the water to be getting into the transmission and pushing the grease up into the tub . Rare , but happens . Time for another machine if that happens .

Washer is making a grinding sound when draining water.

hi, this grinding sound is coming from the pump. the pump device seems to have a broken impeller that is located inside the pump. You will not be able to replace this internal part. This device is fixed and you will have to replace the entire pump assembly.

This will happen if some debris or coins make it threw the pump housing. these debris will settle in the pump housing near the impeller and it will grind while in operation or, draining procedure. the solid debris will eventually damage the impeller and break it off the drive bolt. this will all happen in time but, it usually starts with the minor grinding sound.
