Danger! Voltage! Unplug first the device! You should open it, clean ALL with a dry brush and vacuum cleaner, take off the cooler with fan, clean them also on dry, then take a piece of soft paper, spray on it some alcohol and clean the cooler surface of the rests of the thermic paste, also clean the CPU surface. Then, put the fresh (new) thermical paste on the CPU, smudge it on the cooling surface and mount back the cooler with fan. Dont forget to connect the fan to its slot. The thermo paste you can find in a computer/ electronics accessories shop. The normal temperature should be not higher than 70C.

Most cps can take 100 -120F but when you go past that you risk burring up the cpu and other hard-where in that case. If your system is shutting down that means you are acceding that temp.

Things to correct the issuse:
Power down the system hit unplug power.
get a vacuum and if available can of air.

Take out the 4+ screws and slide the cover off the pc.

Clean dust out especial the main heat sync.

As you can see in this extrema example the dust blocks the airflow.

Also if a fan has stopped moving you can may need to get a replacement generally 10-20$ and is a easy 4 screw repair. Or for a cheaper repair clean fan then peal up its label on the back and you will see a oil reservoir just add a drop of veg oil to it. Fan blades should become easy to turn.

98 Olds van, how does the high/low cooling fan work?

I'm showing three fan relays in the wiring diagram.
The fans are powered by two 30amp maxi fuses. The relays and fan motors are grounded thru the engine computer. The computer takes input from the coolant sensor and the ac control to decide when fans are needed. You would need to know if the computer is grounding the relays, and if not, why not. You may need a scanner to monitor computer output.

Temperature gage goes up and down

The breather hose should run to the air cleaner housing or intake tube.
Check your radiator cooling fan. If it isn't working the car will run hot at slow speeds or idle then cool down after you get going faster. A quick check would be to turn the AC on and see if the fan comes on. If not try lightly tapping on the cooling fan motor with a wooden broom handle. If it comes on then you have a bad motor.
If the fan comes on with the AC then check to see if the fan comes on after the engine gets hot. If the engine temp doesn't kick it on then the temperature sensor might be bad.
If the fan is ok please post more info on your problem

If you have checked all the standard items and they are in working order then your problem maybe you radiator fan control module this module is bolted to the outside frame of the drivers side under the drivers side headlight you need to take the drivers side head light assembly out to see it. it has two cables plugged into it. It costs about $400

Hi. I have a HP laptop for about 3 months and now it gives me the message " a cooling factor is not working properly" , and it shuts down 15 minutes later. what should I do? Should I go to the...

The laptop should be covered since it is only three months old. That's the good news. The less than good news, is that you may have to wait a while before you get your computer back.

I don't have the laptop in front of me, so naturally I can't diagnose the problem directly.
I would hazard an intelligent guess that the Cooling Fan inside the laptop has failed.

Components inside a computer are normally cooled by air. (High tech gamer computers may use a different type of cooling system. They may use water, or a refrigerant of some sort. { Dry Ice, Nitrogen, Freon, etc)

Two main computer components generate the most heat.
The Processor, and the graphics chipset. (Video chip, Same/same)

The Processor is the 'Brain' of the computer. It's designed to operate up to a maximum temperature, (Thermal Limit), and no higher, or damage to the Processor will result.

There is a Fail Safe feature built-in to turn the Processor off, if it becomes too hot.
(BIOS turns the Processor off)

With no cooling fan operating the Processor will overheat.

You didn't indicate what model name, and model number your HP laptop is.
This is to just show you what an average cooling fan looks like in an HP laptop,
(HP DV6 series ), and what is entailed in order to access it,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-hp-pavilion-dv6-laptop/

Scrolling down to Step 24, and 25 shows the top view of the cooling fan.
Step 29 shows the bottom view.

Would appreciate hearing the outcome, please reply in a Comment.

Oven lights and works fine till it reaches set temp then panel goes blank and oven shuts off

Check the cooling fan inside of your control panel. Most likely the computer board overheats and shuts itself down.

TEMP GUAGE JUST QUIT WORKING. COOLANT LEVEL IS FINE, HOSES ARE FINE. EVERYTHING IS COOL TO THE TOUCH. TEMP GUAGE READS BELOW COLD, YET ELECTRIC COOLING FAN COME ON WHEN ENGINE IS SHUT DOWN.

your gage has just gone out and needs to be replace. the computer control the fan. so as long as the temp sensor is connected to the engine it will work fine but you will not know the temp of your vehicle.

Vaio computer problem

You could have a faulty fan and/or dust clogging the fan and heat-sink assemble. This is the most likely cause of the laptop shutting down. When the CPU overheats it goes into thermal shutdown and if this problem is not fixed, eventually the CPU will fail.
Check the fan to see it it spins freely and check if the fan works when the laptop is powered up.
If the fan and heat-sink is ok, then to give the laptop addition cooling then purchase a laptop cooling pad and place the laptop in this pad (These pads have cooling fans and helps cool the laptop).

Infocus in26 fan runs continually

Hello,
The fan does run continuously on this projector however it should be running very very slow when the projector has completed it's lamp cool down routine.
The reason for this is that a portion of the switching power supply remains energized (running) when the projector is at rest. But as I mentioned it should run very slow in this state. If it remains running full blast then most likely the fan speed control chip is shorted which can cause fail 2 ways, either the fan 1. runs full
speed or 2. remains stalled (then the projector will go over-temp and shut itself down) I hope this answers you question.

Cheers
