Dont spend to much time trying to repair dehumidifier they are very cheap to replace. Most dehumidifiers have lots of problems because they are made so cheap. Just replace the dehumidifier you will thank me in the end.

My dehumidifier freezes up. It starts collecting frost within just a few minutes. It is in a basement which is very damp and temp is about 77F. The fan is working on HIGH. Freeze sensor has been...

I don't think there is anything wrong with your machine ... What I think you should do is get another fan and blow air onto the rear of your dehumidifier. I also think you should select a higher setting until you get some of the water out of the air. When you get down to 80% for example (evidenced by the machins turning off - set it then to 70% and so on until you arrive at the moisture content you desire (50% is usually considered perfect.) You might also consider adding another machine to help the first, same setup with a fan blowing on it.

This is what I did when my dehumidifier did the same thing yours is doing.

Thanks for your quesiton @

The current humidity % reads 40% humidity but the room has to be about 60%. I have to set on 35% to get it to pull the water out of the air.

Your machine cannot work when it is frozen ... if the % is as high as you claim and the setting is as you say, if it is not frozen up yet ... it will will be.

Please get a small fan and direct the air flow at the back of your machine ... set it to about 40% and let it run for a while.

Again, if your model is one that can be used in cooler temps so as not to ice up, the heat prevents this.

Goldstar dedumidifier DH305Y7 is holding the water up inside

If you coil for condensing the water out of the air is frozen it may cause the water to drip and bypass the drain collector. The frozen coil would be from running it with to low humidity or to high a setting.
